And yes, I was bullied in my teenage years pretty severely. Didn't /wrist over it. I realized that high school lasts 4 years and after that it's over. And it was. And here I am. Not dead.
@WillianyAmill Bullies should be chargeable with some sort of offense. Certainly not a felony in any but the most severe cases, but some sort of charge. I doubt it would do any good though. Strong family is the only true deterrent to things like this, which sadly is in very short supply nowadays.

While I do agree with you that serious steps need to be taken to prevent bullying of children, I have to say that I do think that kids who commit suicide over it are a little wimpy. I was bullied relentlessly in school and I survived just fine. Whooped the ass of one of the main perpetrators and I never had a problem again. I'm not heartless. I feel nothing but sorry and empathy for what these kids go through, but I don't respect anyone who takes their own life. Sorry.
A friend of mine, she was bullied in school and wanted to kill herself. She was abused at home for years by her own parents. Then the police took her away and she lived with her Aunt. She still got bullied and abused by other kids. That amde her so upset that she thought of ending it all...and she did.

Regardless, suicide is almost always cowardly. In all cases there is something that the person can do to improve their situation. Almost 100% of the time. Instead they take what they see as the easy way out. I'm sure many also do it as some sort of punishment to those who have wronged them.

I teach in an alternative school but I work with all types of kids. I tell them if someone bothers you that bad, beat the shit out of them off school property. The problem is in the burbs these kids are taught to tell an adult, but the adults don't do jack. From there they have no strategies. These suburban bullies if they spent 1 day in my school (inner city) they'd be shittin their pants. Criminal charges are needed for bullies, but smtms so is an ass whoopin.

Its not that easy for the victim to press criminal charges against a bully. A lot of the times when this happens the victim will often be isolated from other peers because now nobody wants anything to do with that person. He or she is termed "uncool". You don't even have to press criminal charges for this to happen. Mearly just telling the school administration could be enough. I feel for these people who took their own life. I still see this happen in the high school I go to

about a week a go i took my 4 yr old son to the park and another child threw dirt in his face for no reason. his mother didn't do anything! WTF? if my son had done that to a kid i would have gave him the spanking of his life!

@bvasquez409 I hope you told the mother off. I would have. I have no problem disciplining other people's kids when they won't do it. It offends them, too bad. I teach in a high risk alternative school. People don't discipline when the kid is 4, the end up in my class with a label of severe behavioral, on medication, etc. I seriously wear body protection and have to take some kids to the ground every day (in their IEPs). Only 2 kids are truly disturbed, the rest are brats.
Absolutely right man, when I was in high school i got bullied a lot, be in constant fights, it's outrageous how kids act. No one wants to "tell a teacher" because then they get it even worse, it got to a point where I said fuck it, and dropped out cause I couldn't take having an anxiety attack everyday before school, or getting suspended for a fight, that I didn't cause. There needs to be a zero tolerance rule in every school because the problem is getting worse, not better.

Thank you! I don't want to go to school because I am bullied, I still have to, and lucky the bullying isn't physical, but it used to be really bad. In elementary school, I would go to school and get bullied, then go home and get shoved around by my dad, there was no haven. This isn't something that will go away on its own and there are no "rites of passage", there are just kids being abused by their peers and no one doing anything about it.

The school system where I live has a ZERO TOLERANCE for bullies, period. If there is a bully issue, the bully is expelled. Due to this, we don't really have this issue. It's not to say it's not going on and kids are not telling. I totally agree with the zero tolerance rule and ALL schools should follow this rule. Just like weapons are not allowed, neither should bullies!
When I was a kid the only way to stop a bully was to throw hands, no matter what size they were you had to defend yourself or you knew it would never stop. Best thing to do is get as angry as you can and try to pound their head in in any way you can. You look like more of a little bitch when you don't do anything than you would if you got your ass whooped.
Btw for anyone who trys to say I don't know what it feels like to be bullied, I do. I dealt with physical and verbal harrasment on a daily basis for about 3 years until I beat the shit out of the kid who was harrasing me. Even after complaining to school authority it continued. A suggestion to anyone who deals with bullying after informing their school administration, sue the school. You legally can if the school can't get it to stop while its on school grounds.

I was bullied, so one day, I decided to stand up to him. He wanted to fight, so did I. I socked him in the arm, in the face, and kicked him in the leg. He didn't hit me, and I didn't get caught. Over the weekend, I felt accomplished, and when I went back to school, I heard he'd moved. I never got in trouble. That's how I felt. I felt it was so unfair that he never got in trouble, but now I didn't get in trouble. I can't think of a point for this comment.

I've been bullied when i was little. It didn't help a bit that i told my teacher so I decided that the only way to end it was to retaliate. It wasn't so violent because I was only a second grader but if retaliation becomes the only way out, then school will become a gathering for violence. Therefore, I certainly agree that schools need to take a greater measure to end bullying but I am not sure if criminal charge is appropriate.

Blame the parents! There are no bad kids only kids that were taught wrong. I think we need to send these kids to counseling and make them do community service not jail because they are still young and can change if you send them to jail they will just get worse. What we can do as a society is blame the parents, put them in jail. Fine them and make them take parenting classes or just take the kids away from them. I say push parents to give proper parenting to reduce the numbers of bullies in the future, thus reducing the chances of having kids commit suicide because of it. There's no shotgun magic methods, it's all about telling the tutors so they teach their own better. I hope you get my point.
What I've learned over my life, most bullies have shitty lives themselves. The thing is, they can't reach for help, do the stupid action and go bully people for their own misery. I have taught crazy kids (psychopaths), kids in juvi, alternative school, charter, rural poor public, rich suburban school, etc about 99% of the time bullies were full of themselves, totally on pride. Very few came from bad homes. Most came from homes with permissive parenting.
@TheTravelfool well you got your experience to back you up. I got mine too, though mine wasn't as a teacher. I've been an observant and sometimes a victim of bullying. And what I described was just as I witnessed. Kids from poor families, or kids from "permissive" parenting, or rather parents who buy peace to their kid for their lack of presence. Hell, To my knowledge, I've seen wimps and victims be just as full of themselves as their bullies! More often than you think!

But to be honest, there's more to bullying than what we both described. It's all about who the parenting was done, or just how the kid got fit in the microcosm of his school. Kids can even bully just because they don't like the face of another kid, it happens too.
And of course, beating other kids up for made up reasons, it's how some bullies fuel their ego. Which is why I say their ego is so low, to begin with.

Kids need to learn that when they’re getting bulled they need to go to the teacher and the teacher need to respond to it and report it right away. I think bulling should be against the law in schools and outside of school. People may die and will die from any type of bulling ether its cyber or in person because we sometime don’t know how to handle the situation and things get harder and the bullying get worse. This needs to be dealt with and fixed now. It needs to be taken vary seriously.
I was bullied all through middle school. Its hard, really hard. I went through so many breaking points. Im so happy i didnt kill myself, but i aint gonna lie, it went through my head more than once during middle school. It real is horrible. i cant say that enough. Parents also need to step in here, my parents taught me how to stand strong against bullies She would often tell me (they talked about Jesus Christ so who are you). Bullies will never go away you even see it on TV everyday look at the elections going on, look at how people are treating the president. And yes, I was bullied in my teenage years pretty severely. Didn't /wrist over it. I realized that high school lasts 4 years and after that it's over. And it was. And here I am. Not dead.

@WillianyAmill Bullies should be chargeable with some sort of offense. Certainly not a felony in any but the most severe cases, but some sort of charge. I doubt it would do any good though. Strong family is the only true deterrent to things like this, which sadly is in very short supply nowadays.

While I do agree with you that serious steps need to be taken to prevent bullying of children, I have to say that I do think that kids who commit suicide over it are a little wimpy. I was bullied relentlessly in school and I survived just fine. Whooped the ass of one of the main perpetrators and I never had a problem again. I'm not heartless. I feel nothing but sorry and empathy for what these kids go through, but I don't respect anyone who takes their own life. Sorry.

She still got bullied and abused by other kids. That amde her so upset that she thought of ending it all...and she did.

Regardless, suicide is almost always cowardly. In all cases there is something that the person can do to improve their situation. Almost 100% of the time. Instead they take what they see as the easy way out. I'm sure many also do it as some sort of punishment to those who have wronged them.

I teach in an alternative school but I work with all types of kids. I tell them if someone bothers you that bad, beat the shit out of them off school property. The problem is in the burbs these kids are taught to tell an adult, but the adults don't do jack. From there they have no strategies. These suburban bullies if they spent 1 day in my school (inner city) they'd be shittin their pants. Criminal charges are needed for bullies, but smtms so is an ass whoopin.

Its not that easy for the victim to press criminal charges against a bully. A lot of the times when this happens the victim will often be isolated from other peers because now nobody wants anything to do with that person. He or she is termed "uncool". You don't even have to press criminal charges for this to happen. Mearly just telling the school administration could be enough. I feel for these people who took their own life. I still see this happen in the high school I go to

when i was in fifth grade a middleschooler knocked the wind out of me, three seconds later a teacher comes around the corner and gives me a refferal for running in the hall and hitting the bully while the asshole gets to eat lunch in total comfort inside the office. and just last year i saw a senior and freshman in highschool and 1 had a peace and the other had 3 small bags of weed. the teacher didnt even stop to do anything and the senior died from too much smoke inhilation.not to mention drunk

I teach in a high risk alternative school. People don't discipline when the kid is 4, the end up in my class with a label of severe behavioral, on medication, etc. I seriously wear body protection and have to take some kids to the ground every day (in their IEPs). Only 2 kids are truly disturbed, the rest are brats.

Absolutely right man, when I was in high school i got bullied a lot, be in constant fights, it's outrageous how kids act. No one wants to "tell a teacher" because then they get it even worse, it got to a point where I said fuck it, and dropped out cause I couldn't take having an anxiety attack everyday before school, or getting suspended for a fight, that I didn't cause. There needs to be a zero tolerance rule in every school because the problem is getting worse, not better.

Thank you! I don't want to go to school because I am bullied, I still have to, and lucky the bullying isn't physical, but it used to be really bad. In elementary school, I would go to school and get bullied, then go home and get shoved around by my dad, there was no haven. This isn't something that will go away on its own and there are no "rites of passage", there are just kids being abused by their peers and no one doing anything about it.

The school system where I live has a ZERO TOLERANCE for bullies, period. If there is a bully issue, the bully is expelled. Due to this, we don't really have this issue. It's not to say it's not going on and kids are not telling. I totally agree with the zero tolerance rule and ALL schools should follow this rule. When I was a kid the only way to stop a bully was to throw hands, no matter what size they were you had to defend yourself or you knew it would never stop. I was bullied, so one day, I decided to stand up to him. He wanted to fight, so did I. I socked him in the arm, in the face, and kicked him in the leg. He didn't hit me, and I didn't get caught. Over the weekend, I felt accomplished, and when I went back to school, I heard he'd moved. I never got in trouble. That's how I felt. I felt it was so unfair that he never got in trouble, but now I didn't get in trouble. I can't think of a point for this comment.

I've been bullied when i was little. It didn't help a bit that i told my teacher so I decided that the only way to end it was to retaliate. It wasn't so violent because I was only a second grader but if retaliation becomes the only way out, then school will become a gathering for violence. Therefore, I certainly agree that schools need to take a greater measure to end bullying but I am not sure if criminal charge is appropriate.

Also we need to teach our children that are getting bullied that there is nothing that bad that should make them want to commit suicide. They may not be tough physically but they need to be tough mentally. You cannot baby kids to the point when something bad happens and their parents aren't around to comfort them that they can't handle it. (d-p) Yeah it doesn't excuse the bullies from doing what they do, but it's in response to what they live. Would it help to lock them up? NO? What makes you think they'd not come out worse?
I say push parents to give proper parenting to reduce the numbers of bullies in the future, thus reducing the chances of having kids commit suicide because of it. There's no shotgun magic methods, it's all about telling the tutors so they teach their own better. I hope you get my point.

What I've learned over my life, most bullies have shitty lives themselves. The thing is, they can't reach for help, do the stupid action and go bully people for their own misery. Bullies wouldn't be that much proeminent if there weren't that much uncaring parenting to begin with, or shitty teachings, or idiotic teachings whatever.
I've learned over the years that those who bullied me were bullied themselves. A left alone kid, a mocked child, an only child in monoparental situations, poverty...

@XPator everything is down to the parents, if they dont care for you your gonna grow up a low life, if they bring you up good you never know where you could be now. i got brought up without care and i felt like killing myself everyday after i was 14 and its very very hard, i feel for the kids in their teens now livin hrad lives because that was the most hardest thing i had to go through in life and knowing no one loves you

Though I am not bashing against people who had a harsh childhood -I had one myself-. I do wish people would take more care of their kids.

@XPator Not true at all. I have taught crazy kids (psychopaths), kids in juvi, alternative school, charter, rural poor public, rich suburban school, etc about 99% of the time bullies were full of themselves, totally on pride. Very few came from bad homes. Most came from homes with permissive parenting.

@TheTravelfool well you got your experience to back you up. I got mine too, though mine wasn't as a teacher. I've been an observant and sometimes a victim of bullying. And what I described was just as I witnessed. Kids from poor families, or kids from "permissive" parenting, or rather parents who buy peace to their kid for their lack of presence. Hell, To my knowledge, I've seen wimps and victims be just as full of themselves as their bullies! More often than you think!

@XPator Ive been a survivor of bullying too. Yes, I also have seen victims be full of themselves too but I think that's a reaction of wounded pride. In cases or permissive parenting, yes it truly is no quotes needed around the word :) I have known parents not to set any rules or have any consequences whatsoever. Oh yes so many parents who buy peace for their lack of presence, oh so true. The left alone kid is all too common. How right u are on that

But to be honest, there's more to bullying than what we both described. It's all about who the parenting was done, or just how the kid got fit in the microcosm of his school. Kids can even bully just because they don't like the face of another kid, it happens too.
And of course, beating other kids up for made up reasons, it's how some bullies fuel their ego. Which is why I say their ego is so low, to begin with.

Kevin, man, I'm feeling you. Dude, I got a 2-year-old daughter and am fearing the thought of her getting bullied when she starts school. There are just too many suicides occuring recently and it is becoming a major problem. Prayer is really the answer and I hope that you will continue to speak out as well as pray for those in need and seek guidance. Cuz I do. Big up 2 you!!!

Kids need to learn that when they’re getting bulled they need to go to the teacher and the teacher need to respond to it and report it right away. I think bulling should be against the law in schools and outside of school. People may die and will die from any type of bulling ether its cyber or in person because we sometime don’t know how to handle the situation and things get harder and the bullying get worse. This needs to be dealt with and fixed now. It needs to be taken vary seriously.

I was bullied all through middle school. Its hard, really hard. I went through so many breaking points. Im so happy i didnt kill myself, but i aint gonna lie, it went through my head more than once during middle school. It real is horrible. i cant say that enough. I cant explain how it feels its unexplainable. Imma stop because imma start crying if i keep on. Im so scared for my kids.

Parents also need to step in here, my parents taught me how to stand strong against bullies She would often tell me (they talked about Jesus Christ so who are you). Bullies will never go away you even see it on TV everyday look at the elections going on, look at how people are treating the president. We have to prepare your children to deal with it and don't think it will never happen to them

I'm pretty sure that there are criminal charges for assault and murder, and that shit's rampant in government schools. And they smoke on campus too, by the way. The bullies aren't the solvable problem, it's the kids that can't take it that need the solution.

Or the kids getting bullied could quit being pussies. I used to get bullied when I was a kid. Know what I did? Kid pulled me off the jungle gym by the legs and tried to drag me around by my feet in 2nd grade. I decided I'd had enough of his shit and whooped that kid's ass and knocked out his two front teeth. Luckily they were still his baby teeth. Guess who has two thumbs and didn't get bullied in that school anymore? THIS GUY.

There has to be a reason why you hit the bully, and that should've been what they asked, and they could've could him right then and there. Good job on that though!

Exactly brotha, that should be a crime PERIOD. How do you expect bullying to stop if nothing bigs done? All schools do have bullying prevention speeches, week w.e. But is that really enough? Myself growing up I was picked on just because of the color of my skin. Didnt really get to me, because I would ALWAYS fight back. Funny thing id be the one who'd get in trouble not the other guy. So we al know what needs to be done
