  • looks like our TEP70 in Ukraine

  • @marik470 well that's quite interesting! They did go over to Russia in the 70s I think, so it could be an actual one! Or as you say, maybe just similar :)

  • @InterCity82 Thanks for your reply, i just found out today, that soviet union has actually bought and exported Kester which later that took apart and modified for our tracks and thats how the TEP70 was born :) beautiful loco indeed, i wish to find one of these on ebay someday, you are very lucky!

  • @Starwarslegobuilder - totally upto you :)

  • does this have two engines, just the fans at each end make me suspicious

  • @blackfive5687 - I'm not sure! lol

  • @blackfive5687 2 Engines, I'm sure of it.

  • @blackfive5687 There was only one engine, it was a big Sulzer V16

  • @InterCity82 beutiful model

  • @InterCity82 I know i will

  • A nice lokomotiv.Kan we see it run

  • You keep pronouncing the name Heljan with a J as in jam. It's a Danish manufacturer and so the name should be pronounced Helyan.

  • Ok i could i only find 1 pic of an ex Russian Kestral.

  • not l;ike my ridleys coal and iron by bachman only 100 made!

  • what would set that off now, some matching choc+cream livery mk1 coaches :)

  • @InterCity82

    thought you'd like the idea.

  • my least faverout brush traction loco

  • I have to point out that writing on that certificate is worser then mine! I mean the teachers at school when I was in Primary (before high school if the people in the UK call it differently) school used to sat my writing was bad (improved since), they should see this!

  • @2009Buzza - lol

  • the last time she ran was 1972

  • @hornbyfan1 - really? Wow. A whole 10 years before I was even thought of.

  • @InterCity82

and when her BR career was over, she was re gauged for soviet state railways and shipped to the ussr, since then her fate is unknown

  • @InterCity82 Yeah it was in Baghdad when u were in dads bag!

  • @hornbyfan1 what haped to her

  • @theshedrailway she started breaking down so they stoped running her and she would of stop soon enough because of addvancted tech my dad used to drive this train in real life

  • I just keep coming back to this vid!

love kestrel its an awesome model ;)

  • @loghead19 - A video on her pulling a train is being made as we speak!

  • Are Heljan and Vitrains part of the same company, because they have the similar packaging. + Great Loco, I've seen some videos on YouTube of her in real life. :)

  • @ipodwindow - ViTrains is an Italian company, formed out of the now extinct Lima. And Heljan are a Dutch company, entirely brand new, producing a wide range of diesel locomotives. The two companies may seem similar but trust me, they are not. :)

  • wwwwwwwwoooooooooooowww she is lovely

  • @gbrailwayclub - you should see her run! easily the smoothest loco ever

  • u must have some dough

  • @fivebottlesofwhisky - lol, she wasn't too bad - about £100 I think

  • where do you live in the uk because you have lovley trains.

  • @gbrailwayclub - Crewe - and thanks!

  • the hornby certificate looks a lot better

  • @yoshi117117 - it sure does!

  • you know i got to say that look a good one and looks like i'll drive very well nice

  • @ronop1 - oh she runs beautifully - as smooth as a baby's bum - I'll do a video on her pulling some coaches soon.

  • Actully mine is 3203 and not 3205!

Mine has pulled 4 coaches and the full size loco held 1,000 gallons of fuel and was Sulzer V16 (16LVA24) engine. and 6 Brush 515 HP Traction motors and 125 MPH top speed. The spare buffer is a spare valance! I put the couplings on mine and I had to remove all the pipes as they would catch the couplings.

  • Wow! Well, when I bought mine from a local shop, there was a guy in there who bought 2! One for display only and one to run! Sheesh - some people have too much spare cash :)

  • i wish i had enough spare cash to buy one never mind two

  • Mine Is 3205! I really do love my model of the kestrel. I have photograghed and ran it

    on my layout.

  • mines number 3575!

  • :) I know one guy who bought two! at the same time!

  • I'm not surprised. I own a few quality locos but this one runs superbly. I couldn't be any happier with it.

  • not of hs kestrel! the pewter model is of locomotion no.1

  • when i get locomotion no.1, i will make a video like this . thanks for the inspiration. nice loco, for a diesel.

  • hehe - she is different isn't she? :) I look forward to seeing your video once it's uploaded!

  • get a pewter model of the first train ever from bachmann. its now available. dont know the price though.

  • A pewter model of the HS 'Kestrel'?

  • 5* awesome loco
