no offence but i was laughing at the clay tennis court part. i thought that was obvious. anyway. congratulations! (: and i absolutely love the lion king.
@crazyovergreen Oh no I don't blame you one bit :) I can't believe I drew a blank on that one for so long (I played tennis in high school too!) and I was extremely fortunate that the other contestants were just as befuddled. Obviously it was huge for me since I could cash in that $5,000 spin from earlier.
@Ninlego10 Yep, and I think one of the main reasons is to prevent what I ended up doing in this episode. WOF thrives on turn changes to give everyone a chance to play, and I parlayed my free spin into running a puzzle for over $9K. It's kind of sad since the free spin has been a part of the game for so long (remember when players could rack up MULTIPLE free spins?). I'm not a fan of the FREE PLAY myself, which was supposed to replace the free spin.
Contestants are required to clap just about the entire time while the tape is rolling - when the wheel is spinning, after selecting a letter, during intros and before going to commercial. The explanation they gave is that it helps keep what they referred to as the "juice" flowing, which is the excitement and energy required to keep the show running on its highest level. It did get tiring after a while but it just got ingrained into our minds so well that clapping just became a habit.
The two parts don't have to be related in any way, and this can create some clever puzzles. Here are more examples: "THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE MALFUNCTION", "LOVE IS IN THE AIR CONDITIONER", "PEEPING TOM CRUISE", "HEARTBREAK HOTEL CALIFORNIA". This is my favorite category, and fortunately I was able to get the B&A puzzle on my show very early and rack up a nice bankroll for the round.
Sure, a Before and After is composed of two separate puzzles sharing a linking word. The two parts may be anything: things, names, phrases, etc. There's no limit to how long a B & A puzzle can be but it must be at least 3 words long. The first B & A that appeared on the show was "WHITNEY HOUSTON TEXAS" in which HOUSTON is the linking word.
It's only easy when you're watching at home... or on youtube! We all were feeling the pressure during the speed round, with all the cameras, lights, live studio audience and music... and I'll be the first to admit I was VERY lucky that they didn't figure it out before I did, and I really wanted it too since I had $14K in front of me at the time.
very impressive

@lionking300 Y'know, they shouldn't get rid of old things and introduce new stuff to replace them. BTW, thanks for the multiple free spin fact.

Same as Family Feud. They even clap when a bizarre or disasterous answer given. Suppose to discourage on a bad answer.
