whether or not they should have given up the occupation, I wonder about role of their full-time union officials in this. Notice the language of the officials' speeches, starting around 1:35. Were they trying to scare the occupiers out of changing their minds and perhaps remaining in occupation? One even refers to the lethal police attack on Ian Tomlinson at the london G20 protests several days prior. There was serious dissenting opinion coming from the workers.

It's important to remind ourselves that if workers never broke the law then we would never have gained the right to vote, or trade unions.

It was a mistake to end the occupation of the building. Visteon now has the upper hand. And I wouldn't trust the bureaucrats running the union to defend the interests of the workers.
