stay away from drugs i never touch the pipe when i wanna get high i smoke the mic this is a rhyme you can't hang with kool moe dee knowledge is king!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome. I remember hearing this song on a black radio station back in 1994. I once thought that it from a current album by Moe Dee but I never knew it was from Knowledge In King. Great song.
Glad you think so. Nice to see that you remember this song from way back in the day, especially since I don't even think it was one of the radio singles from the "Knowledge Is King" CD. Moe Dee actually did release an album in 1994, "Interlude," but it pretty much fell on deaf ears (making me feel all the more fortunate to own a copy of it), although he was still on point lyrically, omnipotent vocally and immensely flavorful.
Most of the songs, though the CD had absolutely NO radio singles, had immensely awesome beats as well, only helping out his cause even more. :) And he plans on, at some point, this year, releasing his first album in fourteen years' passing (Return Of The King), for which he's already got some songs from it up on his MySpace page.
Awesome. I have to check that out. As for All Night, the black radio station that I listened to back in the days actually played the song about 2 times if I remember correct. My bus driver and her assistant were black. So black music was a major part of their sound intake. But it's all good. The music back them regardless of wherever it came from absolutely destroys anything and everything released now.
No problem! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Yes, this was one of Moe Dee's best cuts... none of his female-related songs that came before (Rock Steady, Do You Know What Time It Is, I'm A Player) or after (I Like It Nasty, Candy (I don't know if How Kool Can One Blackman Be counts... although the beats and vocal cadences definitely tell another story)) ever truly equaled it, IMHO. :)
Another lost/underrated hip hop classic.
This is one of the best tracks of the damn DECADE, let alone this album.
Just listen to the words, the beat, the flow. Pure genius.
