It's criminal this is not on DVD. One of the best concerts in history. Even though they are a little stiff around each other, the performances are just breathtaking.
I love seeing Ms. Perfect Agnetha and Frida obviously leaning on each other for support.
aww they look so sad :/ I agree with "faouar"...such a difference from their performance of this song in Wembley :P Of course, at Wembley it was a much bigger concert, but still...:P
I found out that for this last concert, til' the '82 1, that ABBA specifically asked for Dick Cavett, and only him alone, because of his humor, and demeanor. The best interviewer they wanted. And luckily Cavett and ABBA did it. It was supposed to be an un-official good bye Live concert, and they also wanted a full band, and they got that to. This is probably the best performance they did after all the break-ups.
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!
Go to Live365.com, type OFFTHECHARTS in the Search box and click on the station logo. The audio stream should begin. Become a VIP member and listen commercial free!
I love this Full version, now i'm going to have to get this dvd. I couldn't hardly believe it when Agnetha went over to Bjorn and sang with hin for a cpl seconds, when in this instance, they don't seem to hate each other. Priceless. Thanx Shay Shay.
If they FILMED it, yes, it's up to standards of HD resolution. If it was TAPED, no, I don't believe it would be at HD standards.
This is the reason HD transfers can be made of older films, they were FILMED.
Upon looking up the difference between the two mediums it looks as if FILM and TAPE can produce the same resolution. Obviously the TAPE being mentioned isn't your standard VHS tape but a more advanced version. If they had this "advanced version" in the 70s, I don't know.
Don't know why, but this is still my fave Abba track so it's not a favourite of ABBA themselves... I think it's a very strong sensual erotic and exotic dance track. very different from the rest with the air of sins and darkness. The lyrics match perfectly.
Has anyone received a black and white autographed postcard of Agnetha in the last few years. If so, has anyone had one of these signed postcards professionally authenticated. Because I've received one recently, and I've seen a number of people on the internet, have recieved the same thing, and I'm unsure if it is authentic, original and hand signed by Agnetha herself.
This is an absolutley fantastic song. I have been listening to this in the car recently and it is structurally so strong. It has a momentum of its own that just takes you higher and higher. It is interesting to hear the girls sing this live too - without the studio tweaking - I honestly think these two are some the best women singers. They are very different to the out of control modern warblers or rappers, but if you want a lesson in singing technique then you need look no further...
@ayeupmeduck2 Totally agree. This is now my ringtone lol! Makes me want to go clubbing every time I hear it! It dumps all over soulless modern dance music!!!
@ayeupmeduck2 ABBA were all technically gifted musicians, but the girls were possibly the best female singers in the World, as you say. Very few vocalists get close in my opinion.
ABBA is releasing their Tokyo tv appearance on DVD on Nov. 3 in the U.S. with about 15 songs. It should be good quality coming from Japanese studios of that time.
Unfortunately, not on blu-ray at this time. The only ABBA movie on blu-ray now is "ABBA the Movie" If you have a blu-ray player, it should upconvert the normal dvd quite well but obviously not the superior blu-ray quality.
I think Michael Tretow said in an interview that this is the song that they had never been able to reproduce really good in concert. They worked a lot in the studio to create the perfect sound and was hard to re-create live.
Yet I've heard a couple of pretty good live versions including this. It's just such a "perfect pop song". The verse and the chorus are melodically great and it just barrels along.
this version is way better thant the recorded one! I love the intro and I just love the song! thanks Shay, great vid as usual, all the songs they did in the Dick Cavett show are awesome
Great post Shay! The girls look spectacular in HD, and they are singing as great as they ever did, maybe better! Great performance! Thanks for posting!
Agnetha is sooooooooooo cure and flirty here. That's it.....I'm flying over to Sweden and marrying her once and for all.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY worked a camera better than Agnetha.
She just locked eyes on the camera and you can't take your eyes off her. She's still the sexiest woman I've ever seen.

The best group, ever! I love, love, love these old videos. People still don't realize what musical geniuses Bjorn, Benny, and the girls were.
I still fall in love with Agnetha every time I see these. I think the best part of Agnetha's magic is her eyes. She looks right into the camera.

So, yes it was possible to record things at HD resolution in the '70s, ever since the invention of 35mm film has it been possible to do so.
