  • Fiberglass = For weiners

  • i like the swing feel you give to it

  • woow je bent echt een youtube hit Christaan

  • Fiberglass tubas are not the same. 6th grader. Also, you sound nothing like the actual song.

  • watch your cheeks.... dont puff them so much

  • I hated the tuba when I played in band... -.-

  • You own your own sousa? Damn

  • bravo i just started playing sousaphone and im in 6th grade their not easy and stop saying fiberglass sux thier the same send me he sheet music

  • You need to take less breaths so the phrases flow together

  • I NEED THE SHEET MUSIC DUDE!

  • @MrBenbucher PM your email , what kind of sheet do you read american of english?

  • @freakyblanken Seriously im not sure. I live in texas and play high school tuba if that helps any and sorry on the late response

  • ae cabeludo tu mando bem

  • Dude, get the rythms right man...

  • notes were good , but way to many tempo changes

  • i just got over puffin my cheeks and ive been playin tuba/sousa for 6 years now and ive become a better player

  • It's funny cause you're a virgin!

  • hey um needs works

  • sure....and is that ur sousaphone???and what kind of mouthpiece is that??

  • I sold the sousaphone in this video, I now have a Conn Ladyface . I have a Vincent Bach 18 Mouthpiece

  • people who puff their cheeks when they play tuba dont really have the face for tuba

  • Hahaha or they have just learned an other (some think it's bad some don't) technique of playing

  • @kikeking01 a lot of people say that about any brass instrument, but its all about embouchure. what you do with your cheeks doesnt matter. a lot of really popular brass performers puff their cheeks as well.

  • ass hole stop puffing yuo god damn cheeks!!!!

  • don't curse please, and this is an old video. i don't puff cheeks anymore

  • @freakyblanken lies..

  • What do you mean?

  • that u don't puff ur cheeks..

  • there is absolutely nothing wrong with puffing your cheeks while playing sousaphone, or any brass instrument for that matter.

  • @skate4fun21 um yeah there is when you puff your cheeks you get out of tune very badly depending on the note your playing, sometimes switching notes out of tune

  • @terran698 No, that's false. Analyzing what you're doing while playing causes a load of problems that nobody wants. As Jacobs used to say: "Go for the product, get the results. Don't worry about whether it's right or wrong, just make sure it sounds better than anybody else." If you puff your cheeks, fine. If you don't puff your cheeks, that's also fine. There's no right or wrong way as long as you out forth a musical message towards your audience.

  • @skate4fun21 thats like saying its ok to look down the barrel of a loaded gun as long at you dont shoot yourself, first it sets a bad example and second while it works for a few people the majority it messes up

  • @terran698 There's no "bad example" being set. The person your playing for is going to be listening to you, not looking at your cheeks and examining your playing mechanics to make sure they're all "right", because there is no "right". And I don't know where you get the idea that it only works for a few people. Any professional player in a major orchestra today would say that opening your musical mind is what you need to do to get a good sound. And they would definitely be right about that.

  • @skate4fun21 i get this information by playing tuba/sousaphone (1st chair) for 6 years durring highschool and was considering joining the indiana stars (a pro marching band)

  • @terran698 If you've ever seen videos of Gene Pokorny playing you'll notice that he puffs his cheeks on certain notes. Of course that must mean he's automatically bad according to your logic.

  • hey could u give me the notes for it

  • I second everything said so far!

  • Air support man!!!!

  • breathe evenly, keep timing, make sure your sousaphone is put together right, and DON'T PUFF YOUR DAMN CHEEKS!!!

  • its ok to puff

  • breath with your stomach!

  • Your bell is put on wrong.

    its lopsided.

  • I have the same kind of sousaphone, and that is the way it fits. It looks weird, but it doesn't fit above your head. When you position it forward, it's so low that it's in front of your face.

  • right....

  • I'm serious. It sucks.

  • Hey man dont get me wrong.

  • Haha the reason why i sold it,

  • i play one it hurts to move around with it

  • Sousaphona

  • put the sousaphone on straight and get a hair cut. then dont hesitate so much on the notes in the sake of clarity.

  • wow put it on straight- the tuba

  • i play euphonium ;)

  • sweet playing

    i play the trumpet

  • I played trombone for 7 years abd I'm switching to sousa for marching.

  • me too!

  • I Play Trumpet but im bout to change to TUBA

  • cool i play trombone and mellophone but im switching to tuba

  • Well that's just a dumb move

  • me too!

    lol

  • i play clarinet!

  • me 2!!!

  • hey how bout u puff your checks even more.

First rule of playing a brass instrument don't puff ur checks

  • Well that's not really true , in this case i can also play without puffing the cheeks but when you play some of the lowest notes on the instrument very much musicians puff their cheecks, check the new orleans jazz players they all puff

  • Indeed but this guy does it on every tone .. :)And if you start learning to puff your cheeks it can sound good if you master the technique. Although its WAAY easier to get a nice quality tone without puffing your cheeks, and the tone need half as much practice without puffing the cheeks as it does when not puffing :>

  • the lowest notes are easier with puffing, in my opinion the rest is indeed easier without puffing, and i did it on every tone at that time but it's more than a year old, i've improven my skills (this sounds really bad now for me haha) cheers

  • it doesn't matter if it is easier it just matters if it sounds good, that is why u keep ur check corners down and not smile when u get high notes

  • haha, i play tuba

  • Good for you, well go play it instead of wasting time on youtube by commenting me. If i am a loser, i'm not worth your time,

    Cheers

  • it was good but U should tounge a little more.

  • you know what? YOUR RIGHT!!!! and thats exactly what im gonna do

    loser

  • you looser!!! learn some rythm

  • i'm a loser? well you don't even dare to post a movie on youtube.

  • and yeah, your a loser with no rythm

  • no, im not the best sousaphonist in the world, but im better than you, and i dont play sousaphone by the way

  • well ive tried, but here the internet is so slow

  • sure you are the best sousaphonist in the world only your internet is to slow to put something on youtube, and your comment is only you've got no rythm if you did even care you would say more than that

  • my bell is off to you

  • where exactly you get the notes to play it cause i have a sousaphone to and wanna learn that song do u have a link to the website or sumtin

  • i also want to no the site!

  • send your emaill by message and i send the sheets

  • NOT FAKE!!!

  • Hes freakin breathing when notes r played!

  • Because it's out of sync the video i don't know why that is , but i played it for real.

  • ok nice job

  • haha cheers

  • no..

  • where did u find the notes for that song?

  • internet

  • where on?

  • how do you play it??

  • i just play it (i don't really know what you mean)

  • You need to find the music on the internet. I think thats what you mean? I'm not really sure either.

  • Great job im still learning it...

  • another good vid, ever tried playing it on a concert tuba?

  • I have none, so i can't try:p

  • It's a bit easier to play on a concert tuba. I have access to a concert tuba but not a sousa.

  • Too much cheek puffing, keep them down, and force some air into your damn guts, you have about as much wind power as a baby fart. good work ;)

  • ..youre not really playing that, dumbass. the breaths you took.. wut.. theyre in the middle of notes.

  • that's because the audio is out of sync, dumbass:p

  • well i think u should've put out of sync on there

  • how?

  • sorri idk

  • lol

  • Wow man, props for doing this. Before seeing your video, I would've said it couldn't be done. Nice work.

  • Hey does someone know a good studie book for sousaphone?

I search one to study and getting better

  • Standar of exellence, all the middle schoolers use that, you can get it at your local music store, get tuba\sousephone, or baritone\euphonium, and Bass cleff or trebel cleff, they will teach you everything you need to know, but dont get cocky on the first few songs, they teach your breath control. have fun and practice alot! there are 3 books to the series.

  • found an other book ,also nice book

    Musical Souvernirs for Tuba

(the didn't have Standar of exellence)

  • Standard of excelence rofl didint notice!

  • Well didn't find it so now i use Musical Souvernirs for Tuba :-P. But maybe for someone else a good advice

  • how much was that

  • your video is out of sync, badly.

  • This is so cool! I wanna try to use this as a punch next year. I'll blow everyones mind!

  • You messed up a bit on the beggining, should be higher. Also, you shoulf stop puffing out your cheeks and let your tounge do the work for you.

Also, the white tubas suck. you should try using nice brass king. You can play 100 time louder on them.

But overall, very good for playing by ear. Though I would have taken it a bit faster.

  • it's off in a couple places but overall pretty good

  • is there any chance you could send me the music for this?

    mat

  • he ant really playin

  • I'm playin:P, and if you don't believe it:P well visit me:)

  • doesnt look like it and i play tuba

  • that's why it is called sousaphone

  • it's a marching tuba that raps around you

  • its just not synced right dumbass

  • heelo :) i believe ur playing it :) cud u do me a big favour and snd me the music plz?

  • Hey,

    you shouldn't puff out

    your cheeks that much.

    D:

    ...I know,

    I have the

    same problem.

    xD

  • by the way i play Bb tuba

  • if you send me your email by message i will

  • can send me the sheet music plz

  • I know this is hard

    but try to NOT

    puff your cheeks when you

play. You'll get a better sound.

    -A fellow GIRL tuba/sousaphone player

  • Can you send me the notes please!

  • good job keep the good work fellow tuba partner

  • SOUSAPHONE! I heart 'em. Haha. I wish I could play mine that well... I should practice.

  • Great sound. Work on not puffing you cheeks if you can, however. It makes me proud to see fellow young sousaphone players on youtube.

  • Now I think we need a video of the Mario theme on subcontrabass tuba.

  • what the hell of instrument is this??

  • a sousaphone

  • Try this. If you play the same song you played it needs some lower notes.

  • lower notes? in the song? do you have an example?

  • I don't know but I think it's worth a try.

  • Speel jij niet bij RootZ????

Volgens mij wel toch? Ik speel bij Trammelanto :D

  • busted jep dat ben ik:P

  • Nice... That's pretty good... if you have an actual brass tuba, it would sound a lot better.

You should try some of the faster ones.

And btw, what school do you go to?

  • School? THeresialyceum in the netherlands (but is not like the american schools we don't have a marching band or something) playing just in the weekend

  • Ow yeah what do you mean with faster notes? (maybe is it my shortcoming of english (A)

  • Hah, really nice! ;DD

  • Dude, you have to teach me that!

  • Did you use sheet music, or did you improvise, cause if you used sheet music you should send me a copy of it.

  • sheet music first but i know it out of my head

  • you shouldn't puff your cheeks. But it does sound nice

  • can u message me the notes

  • Very nice. You play indeed very clean. Thanks for putting it also on youtube. I hope there will be more and more sousaphone players doing this kind of stuff !

  • vere thank for youre commens i like it that your'beining so positiv

  • WOW! This demonstrates how Tubas & Sousaphones can be quick and precise.
