He is such a great role model, and has experienced the ups and downs in live. I am also a runner. How can I get in touch with Henry Rono? He is a coach at Albuquerqui NM, right?
Good to see him still around...still the most exciting middle distance runner I've ever seen. Lucky enough to catch him a couple of times at Crystal Palace in London in the late 70's...etched in my mind! Has anyone out there got the footage of his great 2 mile tussle with Steve Ovett from '78? One of the best! Keep runnin',Henry!
You are lucky to have watched him run - we have had many many runners from Kenya but to me Rono was super - the greatest athlete never to have run at the olympics. Alcohol tore him apart but he survived. Brazilian soccer star Garrincha didn't.
You are right brother, he was good, very good but alcohol and two boycotted olympics sank him. He was like "Mane" Garrincha, the forgotten Brazilian soccer star. We talk about Pele but Garrincha was better - alcohol sank him. Rono would drink until the bar closed and he could break a world record the next morning. He was a master and yet he never boasted - he just ran!!

Great to see him looking okay. Saw him run in 1978, like the wind blows, like water flows....

I saw Henry run the 10,000 in Melbourne, Australia. He started slow, allowing everyone to pass him at the start. He still won the race in 27.30

Alberto Salazar feared this guy. I would too if I had to race this guy in his prime.
