I am 61 years old and live on the edge of a national forest in the Blue Ridge Mtns. When I was growing up people didn't deer or turkey hunt here because there was none. They were killed off by hungry people during the depression. I have hunted squirrels and rabbits all my life, but didn't get to deer hunt until I was a grown man.
The reason we have deer and turkeys now is because of hunters buying license's, joiniing clubs and donating money to restock and protect. No hunters = no animals.

Some people forget that because hunters hunt animals money is set aside to secure their habitat. The money hunters spend on tags and licenses saves the lives and habitat of dozens of animals, opposed to the few the hunter may take. Does nobody remember that deer used to be almost extinct in america, until hunters got together to save the species?

I stand by my comment. I don't believe in hunting for the fun of it. And I didn't say anyone shot the cat. I hope they left it alone. But I don't have any proof of that. I do believe in culling the number of over populated deer, they are a hazard in many ways when they become too numerous. I don't care for coyote's in my neighborhood, they take our pets.
They do have their place. But, I do approve them being hunted to keep down the population. And I never said I wished I had any coyote's in my neighborhood. We already have them, plenty of them. We even have cougar's and bobcats. Fish and game took a cougar 6 years ago less than a mile from our home. I was not pleased with that. It was a healthy young male whose last kill had been a deer.
They dicked around until they chased it right into a neighbors front yard at 7:30 a.m., so they shot it to prevent children from being endangered. When what they should have done was tranquilize it and return it to the Mountain Lion Corridor 4 miles east, 2 hours before they killed it, and before anyone was "endangered".

@waltopher Wild game is totally organic. Some of the healthiest stuff you can eat. I care very much my food is organic as possible, tastes better. Tell me deer don't have more flavor than beef! Eat a tomato you grow yourself w/ no chemicals vs. one from the store. Tomatoes actually have a taste, and it's GOOD! Like 'em cut in half, sprinkled with salt and then eat like an apple. Good stuff. Go organic, it's healthier and tastes better!

I stand by my comment. I don't believe in hunting for the fun of it. And I didn't say anyone shot the cat. I hope they left it alone. But I don't have any proof of that. I do believe in culling the number of over populated deer, they are a hazard in many ways when they become too numerous. I don't care for coyote's in my neighborhood, they take our pets.

They do have their place. But, I do approve them being hunted to keep down the population. And I never said I wished I had any coyote's in my neighborhood. We already have them, plenty of them. We even have cougar's and bobcats. Fish and game took a cougar 6 years ago less than a mile from our home. I was not pleased with that. It was a healthy young male whose last kill had been a deer.

When what they should have done was tranquilize it and return it to the Mountain Lion Corridor 4 miles east, 2 hours before they killed it, and before anyone was "endangered".

Actually I wish they'd have one where I live. They come into our neighborhoods and take our pets. Just over the hill they've tried to take 3 small children, it's been in the news.
