Great playing and a fine rendition!!! I can see you're really havin' fun sawin'. You might like to search out Leo Kottke's (Leo's a GREAT Finger-style guitarist!!!!)1974 Capitol Records album: "Dreams & All That Stuff", and on that album Cal Hand has a Dobro version of Bill Cheatham. I didn't check to see if it's on the internet or not. I took up fiddle and mandolin concurrently starting on 1 Jan 2011, and I'm having a blast learning!!! Thanks for posting the tune!!! Red
sounds awesome! very unique version. I'm not one of these boneheads you find on the internet that critiques people and tells them how to play their instrument, BUT I can't believe what you do with your pinky! I spend so much time trying to get my pinky arched down like they say so I just thought how you do it was great! keep it up!!! sounds great.
@frmertd Thank you for the kind words! I always try to put my own spin on fiddle tunes and make them my own. However, I don't alter the melody much because I don't like improvisations that make the tune unrecognizable. So I guess I'm innovative and conservative at the same time.
The nice tone in this mostly comes from the fiddle being tuned AEAE.
