Amazing song. My grandad used to play in a dance band in Scotland and this was part of his repertoire. I used to love listening to him play the piano and sing to me. This song has brought back some very emotional memories.
I'm 35 now and try to sing it to my son, not as well as Mr Robeson here though!!!
I'm so happy this song is here! You might laugh but our family had a most beloved dog that we sadly had to get put down last year and this was his theme tune!We can't remember how it started but from when he was a puppy we'd always sing the chorus to him.His tail would wag like mad when we started singing!I found the song by chance on an old Childrens Favourite CD about a month after we had him put down and the song brings back really happy memories of him in the home.Paul Robeson is amazing...
Great. My mom was a Paul Robeson fan and she used to sing this to me almost 70 years ago. I did have my kiddie car stolen away..a Sinclair Oil Co. green truck.
The sound is so much warmer and pleasing in this than in any of you other videos, especially in the beginning, and there is hardly any surface noise. It also makes it come more alive as we can se the record playing. Perhaps it would better to shoot your videos from this angle than straight in front of the horn?
This is a very charming record. Thank you so much for posting.
i thought the hmv 1a had the largest internal horn, do you have ol man river by paul robeson

They become part of the family don't they. We miss ours all the time, never thought it would affect me like this.

Oh what a wonderful story! I tried to explain what a 'kiddy car' was to one of my charges and now I can have him read this :)
