After checking out CalTrans' new project of changing CA-905 east of I-805 into I-905-- interstate standards-- I noticed that I-905 will be directed southbound towards the border at the CA-125.. Will it be sort of a direct connection onto CA-125 for e.g-- a T-Interchange onto CA-125 from I-905-- or will it stay the same-- the road perhaps being the ramp to CA-125?
Great video. San Diego has grown so much since I left in the 90's. A lot of that growth in Chula Vista between Olympic Parkway and East H Street started about 15-20 years ago, but right of way for the toll road was there long before it was developed
@jfs1988: I'm not so sure that it's the mountains, as much as it's anti-freeway activists who (with many good reasons) would block such an extension). Granted, I'm no expert on the terrain in that area (I've only been east of I-15, via either CA 78 The city of Poway probably doesn't the freeway going thru the city, either. On the plus side, it would probably offer a lot of relief for the adjacent I-15 (the current HOT Express Lanes project should eliminate most of the Escondido bottleneck).
Well they designed the tolled section of CA 125 with the idea that it would serve anticipated future residential and commercial development, so as to keep pressure off I-5 and I-805. It's an empty freeway for now, but it wouldn't surprise me to see this freeway carrying over 100,000 vpd, about 20 years from now.
I should add in that the future planned development for this region is going to eventually happen, whether or not CA 125 was ever built in the first place.
True that, but it's also because there's not really any developed residential or commerical zones...yet. This freeway will eventually be surrounded by thousands of homes...I'll expect about 100,000 vpd in the future.

The extension to Riverside County might never happen. Just too many mountains.

Awesome video.
I was surprised about the density of exits along the toll section, I thought there were like 1 or 2 exits.
The road markings are hardly visible sometimes though...

@FreewayBrent Especially when the toll booths are removed in 23 years when the freeway is expected to be paid off.

Cool freeways. There were a lot of exit-only lanes in that stretch.
I see why this freeway was empty -- it costs too much for a one way trip, not even talking about the round trip.
