Mick was a fabulous guitar player but his decision to leave the Stones showed absolute total lack of vision. He must still be kicking himself in the ass over that move! I know he made Ronnie Wood a happy man!
@MrZeldalove direct cable into a SVT Ampeg bass amp. He used SGs, Les Pauls, & a slew of acoustics. Mick in concert.... you had to be there!! His ability to endlessly spin melodic lines just put a crowd into a trance.
So much going on in this song, you can listen a million times & still hear more, old blues 6th holding back holding back then finally the sublime tonic... raggedy piano, Jagger's leathery voice, the jazz drums & the block's ticking clock , guitar layers....
@MrZeldalove Sorry, took me a minute to understand your odd, sarcastic remark. Mick Jagger is actually pretty underrated. Lots of people just talk about how "girly" he supposedly is. I'm sorry I didn't mention Mick Taylor or Eric Clapton in my original comment. How foolish of me to mention the lead vocals.
@karlmoles65 AGREED. I'd also say the piano glistenings beginning at 5:26 are gorgeous. I could just listen to the last 2 minutes of this song and be satisfied but the whole thing is a masterpiece.
Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins, all of them - thanks a million. This is a "once in a lifetime" recording that will go down in rock history. One of those pinnacles in music that stands above nearly all others.
Every time I hear a Stones song it's a little different than the last version, but it's always simply incredible. This song is ominous, beautiful, deep, relaxing, eerie, and wonderful.
2013 is the end for the USA 4 nukes, The UAE will kill us then, see the will of God, and he is the wolf dressed in sheeps clothes see the truth, we all heard of it
@Henry8544 I heard it today on the radio, with a long piano solo, and when I got home I listened to it. That was hours ago, and I'm still listening to it.
I read somewhere the Stones have never done this song live. Its a really good tune. I heard Mick Taylor wasn't given songwriting credit for this track, too. It was one of the nails in the coffin before exiting the band in 1974.
Mick Taylor's guitar solo on this tune is one of the best in rock and roll. I'm not a guitarist so I'm not sure it's the most difficult to play (maybe one of you guitarist can say) but it's the most beautiful guitar solo I think I've ever heard.
@juscurious the thing about the blues is it's not about how technical you can be or how fast you can play your scales it's about how you use your guitar as an extension of yourself to express how you feel. In this song just like so many others he played on mick taylor does an unbelieveable job at that. it's just a shame that my generation has all this great music at their disposal and yet they couldn't be more put off by it.
@bearvsbeargrylls I agree. Give me Stones and Beatles and classic rock and 70's ANY day over Gaga, Bieber, Perry and all that pointles, meaningless crap that people call music.
I understood this ablum cover after learning that The Beatles were done in by fans' interest in the John-Paul conflict over who was leader of the group.
I love this beautiful song by my favorite band.

Eric Clapton aside. I've rarely heard anyone put his heart and soul into an electric guitar like Mick T. does on "Time Waits For No One".

Underrated? You think? Mick T was the greatest
Lead player of his generation . His leads and
Keith's rhythm were the greatest combo in
rock. Listen to some of 69-73 boots and you
will hear Mick T play lead with more agility
and style than ant of the popular guitar heroes
of that time.

@jbstonesfan I totally agree. Mick T and Kieth were great together.
