Maybe. I knew a girl who had tourettes who would laugh off or otherwise deflect from certain tics (pretend they were voluntary). I didn't know what she was doing at first - she would 'mirror' me laughing and pretend it was voluntary imitation; took me a while to figure out - and I kind of feel laughing along with her on those cases would be in error. In general it's probably bad form to pay attention to tics, even if its the person doing them who's drawing the attention to them.
