its a shame Toyota is behind the ball on electric cars. Nissan, Mitsu etc have much better electric cars and are closer to sale. Toyota's best chance is to turn their prii into 100km+ plug-in hybrids or 200km+ full ev's.
Hybrid cars are actually better than electric only. If we change all the cars to electricity only we will have to burn a lot more petroleum to make energy and there are losses to distribute that energy. Besides that the battery is bigger and more expensive and the autonomy is shorter. Prius is still the answer when you think in smart drive. Two wheels electric vehicles are a good bet to the close future.
F0ORDY, firstly, even if it is coming from a bad source (like coal), it's using less than half the emissions (compared to fuel) since electric engines are way more efficient in how much power actually gets to the wheels, compared to how much is used. Secondly, there are clean ways to source power to charge, and the future will probably see more clean power stations coming up.
You do know that you can produce petrol from coal as well?
You can also use methane or propane/butane as fuel which can be produced from biological garbage. There are still arguments against a pure electrical car.
The most sufficient argument is the inferior energy density of batteries compared with petrol.
Why Toyota not upgrading their Prius? Prius can use both electricity and petrol making the switch more easy, also I want them to improve the solar panel charging rate of Prius.
Prius is just a transition into electric. The market is not ready for pure electric yet - Prius is warming people up to the idea, because we cannot use petrol forever - Even partial petrol like hybrid.
Yes, storage has always been the issue - Too expensive and too small. But, A123 Systems are finally making it cheap - batteries are already under $5k which allow a car to travel 300kms in a single charge. It just takes time for them to get into production vehicles.
This is a bad idea because it confirms all axisting prejudges against electric cars. Anyone who wishes to sell elictric cars must make a list of prejudges and then disprove in a convincing manner.
And that is exactly what Tesla did. I can't wait for their model S to come out. Then again, the iMiEV Sport Air should be on the market by then as well.
Ah yes a video done right ^.^ Thanks guys =] Do you guys know if it will be at the auto show in Chicago this February?? and I wonder how it does in the snow??
Good chance, EV is the buzz word at the moment so expect more Electric Vehicles in Chicago.....being a concept car I wouldn't venture off the tarmac!!!!
Thanks Guys I'll Keep "an eye out" for it ^.^ Im very excited to go =] but what sucks the most is that half the time none of my buds have a clue what Im saying when Im talking about cars ^_^ heehee!
WHY THE PRICES ARE NOT SHOWING N THESE COMERCIALS? WE NEED TO KNOW THE BASIC AND HIEST PRICE IN THESE TOYS.

not the market not ready for ev cars, the current level of storage technology is insufficient. and it looks this will not change for long time.
