This music sucks so bad. The musical logo sounds forced, and the part that plays when the talent is announced doesn't play well with it. KMGH uses this crap, I wish they would ditch it for something that sounds less cheap and more natural.

Chris, WBAY-TV (the abc affiliate in Green Bay, Wisconsin uses that news music as well as KCAU-TV and WOI-TV, Other abc affiliates. By the way, those 2 other stations I mentioned are in IOWA.) KCAU-TV is Sioux City,Iowa and WOI-TV is Des Moines,IOWA.

I know and agree that there are so many other packages out there. But so many stations have already used EWN down through the years, that cuts have kept getting added to the overall package (even more so with the rollout of Gari's New Generation packages). So by now, EWN seems like the best bargain for a station's money.

Hey we use they use this on KABC! I think it fits out here on KABC better though, or i've gotten used to it. Don't use it at WLS - news series 2000 (the current one i believe) is WAAAY better, and the style fits the Chicago lifestyle better anyways.

I don't think the EWN 6 cut is boring, but it doesn't fit every market. IMHO, it fits KABC and the whole L.A. lifestyle...shrill and fast-moving, lots of flash, and curiously little substance.

Another station that fell victim to the EWN New Generation is KERO-TV in Bakersfield, CA. They dropped Signature from Stephen Arnold Music last month for this boring cut. :(

Good thing they keep the Newsseris 2000+. ANd I use to have that Newsseris 2000 plus on my IPod! I will get it back in my Ipod when I open some space on my Ipod. But, good music to dance to. This kind of news package don't sound to serious.

Yeah. They keep playing that ABC 7 chicago website promo with Eyewitness News Package daily and the concern is that I wondering they are advertising this music for the future opening, talent, and closing of the news broadcast. But, oh well.

Well, let's hope they keep there Newsserries 2000 plus music because when I saw this, ABC 7 promo (abc7chicago commerical), while they talking about what they currently showing on there abc7chicago website (like the musesum for example) they play this mid-1990's Eyewitness News Package on there promo.

oh yeah. ABC7 uses alot of cuts from the EWN package for small promos & such. I just hope they keep using News Series 2000 Plus for the "Important" things....actually, it'd be cool to see what Gari would whip up if WLS went to him to request an EWN/NS2000+ sig. package...that would be cool.

Bill Ratner is used WAY too much I think. Ron Rolland is only used in ABC7. I think more stations should use him instead.

That sounds AWFUL. I do NOT like the Eyewitness News theme at all and am glad that WLS and WPVI keep their longtime themes. News2K Plus is the best theme I have heard on any station. ABC 7 coordinates the music and graphics so well. I can't see any reason to change it. WPVI has used "Move Closer to Your World" since the 70s and is still the #1 station in Philadelphia.

Cleveland's and Orlando's version of EWN series 6 is much better than the Los Angeles' version. However, NS2K+ beats EWN 125%!

I'm surprised they just didn't give Cheryl the 10pm spot in 2003 over Kathy.  Kathy had been with the station only about 2 years longer than Cheryl. But if you recall Alan Krashesky had been at WLS-TV for since the 80s but Ron Magers was given the 10pm spot when John Drury retired in 2002. I do like how they do it with both Cheryl and Kathy at 10pm though.
