  • I have a 1997 ford taurus 3.0. my Actron scanner reads "No Link" when i plug it up. Pin #4 and #5 show continuity when checked against vehicle ground. Pin #16 shows 12 + volts. Pin# 7 also shows continuity from connector to PCM. I have tried different PCM, Changed General Electronic Module, Changed Power train Module. All fuses read good, inside and under hood. Whats wrong?.

  • @overshooter12 Specificaly. Measure the no 4 pin with the dvom meter negative connected to battery ground, Measure the no 5 pin against the same battery ground. Pin 7 if active should read 3 to 4 volts measured against [batt grnd] on this line [pin 7]you don't only want connectivity but also a active +3v. If you get zero volts on pin seven disconnect the battery and measure resistance between pin 7 and a good chassis ground. should be 300 - 600 milli ohms resistance.

  • @overshooter12 Part 2. If pin seven has HIGH resistance the K line or diagnostic line is shorted to ground you need to trace the k line from the OBD 2 connector to the Power Control Module looking for a short to ground. consider if you did any work, or made any connections behind the dash recently or added any electrical components to your electrical system. try disconnecting things and check the resistance after each step. when the resistance returns to normal [300 ma] you found your short.

  • Well I did not get it do you mean if the wires in different places that's means obd will never work??

Well its light up but never connect with my iPhone 4??

  • Very good for me thank you

  • thank you Richpin06

  • Hi, I have a Cherokee Sport 96 but can't find the OBD II connector, does that model come with OBD II plug?

  • @villedamx Yes your jeep has a obd II connector it is located at the rear of lower left edge of dash.If you were sitting in the drivers seat it would be in front of your left knee.

  • @richpin06a Thnks for the tip, but after looking all arround under the dashboard and after an intensive research on the internet, my car doesn't have a OBDII plug, it seems that my 96 jeep is an early 96 model (same 95 but with some patches) only the late 96 model has OBDII port available... anyway, thanks bro.

  • @villedamx very strange that is a oddball

  • hope hes not getting paid by the hour...

  • YOU MOVE WAY TOO FAST MAN SLOW DOWN, WHATS YER RUSH

  • hey, is this vid in slow-mo or is this guy really that lazy

  • @bustyfrog54321 lmao... you are funny :p

  • Good video. Thanks you!!

  • Glad you figured out how to use a dvom bravo your a rocket scientist.

Maycor 1076 your as fucking stupid as the author of this video you don't use a lab scope for voltage drop dipshit!

  • @HunterCO1 Evidently he isn`t the dumbass ,you can use the lab to check voltage drop

  • Rich I would also suggest using a lab scope and doing voltage drop along with the resistance.

  • Fail. You should never check for resistance before checking for voltage present.

  • @jrcboy WHY ? FLUKE METERS ARE CHEAP.. BUY 2 SO YA GOT A SPARE., LOL

  • Pin 4 is SIGNAL Ground and isnt Pin 5 Signal Power?? could have sworn thats what I read in my book and will get back to this thread at a later date.

  • Today we're going to check, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

  • thank you !! great info

  • That is good,

  • Hi Rich, I confirmed that my grounds and power is good on my OBD connector, but I still can't get scan tools to connect successfully.

My signal pin (pin 2) is showing 6.7 volts with the car off, does this tell you anything that may help me out?

  • When you say "it should show some continuity" at the 4th pin, is 0.00 showing continuity?

  • Yes that is right. rich
