My friends and I would call up the local cable channels in Milwaukee to try to talk them into carrying this station on the local network. Never succeeded. Damn this station was the best in the country for dance music. Milwaukee stations sucked compared to this, but what would one expect from such a back-azz city, compared to Chi-town?
Big Ups & MUCH RESPECT to the Spinners on the turntables: DJ’s Larry Patterson (my FORMER next door neighbor, RIP), Francois K (Kevorkian), Tee Scott, Tony Humphries, & Larry Levan (RIP)
I Sing The Funk Electric......the track after that one.......Move, Move, Move, Free Your Body.......Chicago House at it's finest mixed up by one of the great House DJ's Steve "Silk" Hurley. Southsyeed in this mofo, damn it!!
When I was young, my mom use to love this style of music. Everyday I would hear it, whether it be in the car or in the house. I have yet to regret following that same pattern, what a wonderful era of music.
What I miss about back then, is not only the music itself, but the variety and eclectic nature of the mixes(even top 40 radio was pretty eclectic back in the 80's). House, Garage, 70's disco, electro/freestyle, Italo and HINRG, synth -pop and new wave, the occasional dancy funk, R&B, rap,or pop song, all mashed up together. There is nothing like that now. Everything is over marketed or all sounds the same.
Wow. This takes me back 20 plus years! Listening to House Music never gets old. I miss the Warehouse days. Do they still have the House Music Festival near...Laramie?
@WORLDARYANREVIVAL Big ups to you for your post. I can't tell you how many of these guys swear that NY was the originator of Chicago House. Man they're fn nuts. If you listen to the two you'll hear that Chi has it original NY was commercial. NY can take the credit for freestyle music but House? That is and always will be Chitown.
NEW JERSEY WAS THE HOUSE CAPITAL AFTER CHICAGO! WE LOVED YOU CHICAGO ! AND WE ALWAYS REPRESENTED YOU GUYS TO THE FULLEST ! FUCK NYC THEY NEVER LOVED YOU THE WAY WE DID ..WE BROUGHT THAT SHIT TO NYC ...DONT LET THEM TELL YA OTHERWISE..THEIR CLUBS WAS 90% JERZEE ...OUR HIGH SCHOOL DANCES WERE BETER THAN THEIR CLUBS!!!

cool. I live in Canada, 16 hours away, but it might as well have been another planet in the 1980's. I kept hearing about house music until someone finally had a tape of the show, and when I heard it, I went ahhhh.... I was DJing too and played a portion of the tape.
can anyone help me with the correct name and coort artist that sang the song "go-rilla..a female would then follow with the words..you love me, I love you...go-rilla???
anyone can help me with the name or some informations about the first track in the video:"Red Zone club happy birthday..sauro cosimetti"??????????????????(t he lenth is 5:37)thanks
Nothing like the hollow and echo sounding old skool acid house. This was an era when house was about the music and not about being just a show off like the clubs today, too bad I did not know about it back then, I would have liked some of it as a kid.
I grew up in Cali in the 80's and we did not have this crazy Chicago Style House Music..We had good music but nothing as good as this...Chicago party people seemed to push the limits of club music to the extreme...I am thankful for you guys posting these songs and sharing Chicago style jams...

Nobody knew what house music was back then. DJ's started looping Italodisco cuts and mixing with other stuff right around mid 80's, that's how we got the house. It sounds like early 80's Italodisco to me though.
No one can create a mix like this anymore.
