Double dip Recession, the ongoing rise in unemployment, and no clear sign of a positive economic recovery...it's scary how one artist's sentiment back in '91 has come to a terrible fruition 20 years later. As the "media" continues to bombard us with lies of stability and improvement, the sad truth is, is that this ongoing economic crisis is taking this country further and further into ruin. Sad and maddening at the same time.
I saw this on a documentary the other day and cant stop singing ''walking down madison'' lol I looked it up and to hear the whole song is friggin great! Excellent singer and the music is just brill'!
I was never that keen on the rap part but it adds another dimension to the song i suppose.Kirsty with her Beautifull voice, R.I.P. A descent year for music was 91, I was 11, lol!
great song. Until I saw this, I only had a cassette version taken off the radio. The visuals are not what I expected. It sounds tougher than it looks.
Yep Kirsty was brilliant, as was her Dad, Ewan Macoll, check out his song/poem The Manchester Rambler. Oh many a day I have spent on Kinder Scout as well.
'From the sharks in the penthouse to the rats in the basement, it's not that far'. The recent and ongoing banking crisis has shown how true these words are! And it's shown bankers for the rats many of them are.
a great video and a great song which i've loved since it appeared on the "electric landlady" cd. i remember when as a kid i first heard her name in the early 1980s, I immediately liked her song "there's a guy...". and it's just now that i've taken notice from her being killed some years ago. this makes me sad and angry.
I've no love for them either. Especially after they double-trashed The Skids' The Saints Are Coming with Green Day. Stuart Adamson must've been turning. I was flicking through a U2 book for a Kirsty reference, and one of the band members actually said Kirsty was no U2 fan, she was just bored senseless in the studio with Steve Lillywhite so they let her arrange the track listing to The Joshua Tree while they were struggling.
@calicomoonchild Yes, it's actually quite remarkable how much of an insufferable twat Mr Bono Vox actually is. This is, after all, the man who said: "I represent a lot of people [in Africa] who have no voice at all... They haven't asked me to represent them. It's cheeky but I hope they're glad I do." Feel free to vomit at the outpourings of this nauseating, patronising, sanctimonious tosspot.
@2815andy Bono is the biggest tosser ever to walk this earth. On TV telling all the world to give to charity pretending he cares. Hes the one with the tens of millions in all the forgein banks to avoid tax. He also funds terrorist organisations allegedly. Yes he is a total twat.

I recorded it about 1991 from the radio and never heard it again since then.
Hopefully the album is still available to buy. I need it so bad.
