Yes, they had Lord Kaiaphas on vocals (also from Grand Belial's Key, Thokk) on this album Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends and their album The Cainian Chronicle. Lord Kaiaphas also recorded drums on many of these songs. Unfortunately he left the band after this album.

Do not compare Ancient and Cradle, they are deferent! Early Ancient were filled with nature, paganism, beauty. Cardle were filled with madness and agression, and so they are now! Ancient was an amazing band.

@TheVorigan depends on what era you are looking for, their first demo eerily howling winds has no female vocals and is straight to the core norwegian black metal, then they got lord kaiphais on vocals for the cainian chronicle (recomended) then this album with the female voice, oh yeah cainian has some female vocals as well, also theres one of the newer ones called halls of eternity,,,absoute great album with deadly kristin doing the female parts (very theatrical album is halls of eternity)

Principle of Evil Made Flesh was a hit in the Black Metal undergroud genre from what I read in the past articles. Cruelty and the Beast was what knocked it off its feet and From the Cradle to Enslave killed it.

Ancient were a very good band back in the day. I haven't heard much of the more recent material, but they did indeed make great Gothic Black Metal. I am a fan of Cradle Of Filth whole discography, but i aint a big fan of recent releases. Il stil keep an open mind to new stuf tho. It irritates me how people hate Cradle because kids get into them and they've "sold out". Its just as much a trend hating them for them not meeting Black Metal standards as it is listening to them n their new stuff.
