this movie is soo awesome!!! i love it so much even though i had to watch it 3 times b4 i understood what the hell was going on... some parts are soo weird.
Whats with The Departed hatred. Sure, I myself actually prefer these films, but if it wasn't for the departed these films wouldn't have gotten such a big audience in the western market. And for the record the departed was awesome, and didn't just rip it off, it did the same story in a scorcese style
Is the 2nd worth watching ? i know both andy and tony isn't in it.. so iono if is should even bother. beside Its a pre-quel to the first one, it doesn't really add anything to the story.
@Longmachao The 2nd film is my favourite out of the 3. It adds so much to the first story and even though Andy and Tony aren't in it you've still got Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang and Francis Ng who more than make up for their absence.
@Longmachao i definitely think u should watch the second one, because i think it is as important as the other two.. The second film emphasised all the explanations of why the characters did what they did in all the films, especially the triad boss Hon Sam. another one is because u can feel the actual pain and sadness through the course of life that both yan and ming had chosen and that of course what makes the infernal affairs trilogy the best!
in my opinion i think the third one is the best if you actually understand the plot. its more sentimental than the other 2 movies. i thought it was good.
You can't really judge which of the three is the best because of different filming styles. But I believe that End of Inferno has the best political suspense among the three. IA1 is well-known for its quick-paced and climatic scenes whereas IA2 is more towards the old Hong Kong movie style. Some of the IA2 scenes reminded me some of the older HK movies in the 80s and early 90s. As a stand alone, IA1 is an obvious choice but IA3 completes the circle.
I was so glad this film was the first time I saw Leon Lai act in anyting. The entire time, I enjoyed the suspense of his character - he always had something very interesting going on behind his eyes - and you didn't know who's side he was on or what he was ultimately up to. Unfortunately part III wasn't as strong as II or even I but it still brought everything full circle to brillance in its own right.
This one is just damn confusing!!! Doesn't live up to part 1 and 2. Too many twists and I still have too many questions that didn't get answered due to the twists. Yeung character is played extraordinarly by whomever plays him.
I'm very glad to see the Infernal Affairs trilogy after watching the Departed a couple of months ago which left me with a sour note with its unnecessary violence, cussing, plot devices, and very disappointing ending. The end of this movie was depressing especially with Ming and resolution of his problems as a cop amd his past, but left me more satisfied and gave a sense of closure to the trilogy.
I don't think the trailer is that good for the 3rd movie. This last of the trilogy is extremely depressing. To watch Andy Lau's character mentally falling apart is remarkable. This is one of Andy's best performances. The theme of all of the trilogy to me is that when you go undercover too deep, you get screwed by the system forever.
I like the trilogy of this movie very much. They give me a lesson about betray and trust. The movie when I first saw.I will wait only shooting scene but now I understand and it very suspense. This movie is great damn great.
It is great. It gets even better the more you watch it and the more you understand. I use to not like the I.A 2 (the prequel), now that I understand the whole story more, I think it is the best of the 3.

There is one sad thing about the IA trilogy... After watching all 3 movies, i know there will never be something better than this.

I dont really git infernal affair 2. Can sumone explain it frm infernal affair 1? Sam is still alive and evrythin. -_-
xaioguy73 6 months ago
@xaioguy73 It's a prequel. Infernal Affairs 2 takes place 11 years before the first film.

Man I love this trilogy. Sure this one bounces back and forth too much, but it's worth it just for those last twenty minutes.

i think the infernal affairs trilogy is better than the godfather trilogy cos all 3 films are wicked!!

I could care less about the western audience. People who know the quality of Asian movies wouldn't need a cheap remake to find this movie.

The first one is the best....... theres no doubt about it.
The reviews, the critics, and the awards say it all. Its the first one that got the whole trilogy going

ohhhh god!, it was sooooo freaking epic!
^^
but the best for me is the 2nd one, it's the most intense in action.
but this one has a twist so great that makes it a masterpiece ^^
The departed is really a piece of crap compared to this epic trilogy! indeed!

its not about action, you should know that, but there is alot of action...

The third one is more towards the story rather than action. It is to give a clean end to it.
