For the record Fry is doing an approximation of an East Lancashire accent, I'd stick my neck out and say its more specifically Bury, Bolton (Fred Dibnah) Rochdale (Cyril Smith) and Rawtenstall (its the silly way they pronounce their r's). Burnley and Blackburn are very similiar but not as twangy. Im from the Fylde Coast, West Lancs or Blackpool area as you may know it and although I'm barely 50 miles from that area it does sound very distinct and comical to me.
