But there were lots of articles reporting the same thing and some of them were written by very trustworthy journalists.

But what i'm saying is that when you were knocked out of the Copa alot of people solely blamed him and it was reported that he received death threats. Obviously CNN reported his retirement because that was a major event in the football world and they are trying to grow "soccer" in America. However a football receiving death threats wouldn't be major news for them.
