I almost went there that day. I was going to do some christmas shopping. An hour before it happened, i was on my way there, but then decided not to for some reason and shopped somewhere else that day.
I was working in JCPenny when this happened it is a day I will never forgot. My heart and prayers are still with the family of the victims and the victims. It was a scary moment I actually had just got back to work from my lunch break which I spent I looking around in Von Maur.
My friend Ben was 11 yrs old when he lost his Aunt Dianne Trent. My friend Ben Aunt Diane worked at Von Maur when that happen.
Rip Dianne Trent
I lost my Aunt Dane on Sept 21,2003 because of a blood clot. I was only 10 yrs old when my aunt died & my cousin who was the son of my aunt was only 1 1/2 yrs old & Now I am 16 1/2 & my cousin is 8 yrs old.
I am glad you kept the video up and hope you will continue. I think this is one of the best videos done capturing the events that followed the shooting. My family and I are in there too. My son is making a card, my daughter is putting one up on the wall, I am making one, and my husband was captured just sitting and reflecting. It was also the first time that our twins who were 7, tried to come to grips with what happened, and that Heaven gained 8 angels. They look back at this video as well
Thank You for paying your respects to Omaha. I remember in my 7th hour class someone said one of my friends just sent me a text that there has been a shooting a Westroads Mall. I didn't believe this person and after 7th hour I was waiting for my friend so we could hang out and I overheard teachers saying that there has been a shooting I felt like a dick for thinking who cares it's probably fake. My family and I were worried about each other. He went to my school when I was a freshman(R.I.P. vics
i remember when that happened my teacher and another one were saying something happened but wouldn't say what and my friends mom works over their and she was freaked out! im crying i remember that day.
and i was at school while this happend and when i got off of school my mom was on the phone with my sister and she said something about westroads mall and i go "mom, are we going shopping at westroads today?" and she told me no..there was a shooting there. i was sooooo shocked!
my best friends mom was there, and my other friends sister. I hadn't known about the shooting until a few hours later. I was so afraid someone i knew was shot.
I know what you mean there. I work across the street at one of the car dealerships when it was all happening. I was showing someone a car and I seen a cop pull up to the mall, which was nothing new. Then an ambulance and then 20 or 30 cop cars and several ambulances show up. :(
You sit there, comfortably removed from this and have the balls to say something like that?
The real tragedy is that it is people just like you who assist these tragedies. Your callous and careless attitude helps bring them about.
One day you will care, because the tragedy will happen near you. God forbid, because I would wish this on nobody, but it might even directly affect you, as it did the victims and their families.
I totally agree with you here and I feel sorry for those who have a callous attitude. Even if you weren't actually at Westroads on Dec. 5th, it seems like you end up knowing someone who was or a friend of a friend or was on their way there and got detoured for whatever reason, and EVERYONE is affected in someway.
Thank you for this video. I lived in Omaha for many years and go back quite a bit. I cannot beleive that such a tragedy could happen so close to home. God bless.
Amazing video. I started getting tears in my eyes from the beginning. Living in Omaha, it does hit you hard and it still has not set in what happend to our community. God Bless the victims and families during this horrible tragedy through the holiday season.
