  • P.S. Trying to catch up on their back catalogue from all over the world. My postman is sick of ringing my doorbell!!! It's all good stuff but I resent paying good prices for 'promotional only- not for resale' items. Mick, Snowy Sunderland. MBV rule!!

  • @mickpickering Yeah, MBV are the real deal that's for sure. (Check out my favourites list and you'll see how I feel about that band!) Let's hope for something from them soon. Next year is 20 years of loveless so lets see!

I've also done that crazed thing with bands getting back-catalogues and rarities from all over the place so I know how you feel!

  • @jonemmins

Saw MBV in Newcastle just when Loveless came out. Won a competition for tickets, t shirt and vinyl album. All good stuff. Passed on my original tickets then, on the night, found that they went to two ex primary school pupils of mine!! How embarassing- but- I taught them well- musically!! Just got a SVIIB vinyl from Sacramento in the post today. Post and packing cost more than the record. We must be mad...or at obsessed genius status!! Cheers, Mick. Must check this link more often!

  • @mickpickering Indeed you must have taught them well! Wish I'd been into them at that time, but my musical sensibility didn't take off until 1993 (a bit late at 20). I did get to see them 5 times, twice in 2008 and all 3 sets at ATP last December. The Roundhouse gigs, whilst great, did not give me the epiphany moment everyone promised but ATP was absolute magic and did. The Saturday night performance, now THAT was my best ever gig experience! I am jealous of u 4 seeing them on the loveless tour!

  • Try again. Chicago was brilliant with the three of them. Then...disaster. They seemed fine talking to them before and after..then the bombshell. Not the same without Claudia, well not live. Hopefully, Ben and Ally will go on to great things but agree with you- something missing. You would have loved the sound quality in Chicago. One of the best gigs I've been to and I'm past 60 !!!Thanks for your input. They promised a U.K. visit next year, hopefully not as a support band. SVIIB for ever!!! Mick

  • @mickpickering Yeah they were 3-piece at atp last year so I was able to compare them (although 2very different environments-atp festivals are something else!) The good thing is Ben is now more at the fore and even interacts with the crowd rather than coming across introvert. Does anyone know what happened to Claudia? Someone shouted "where's Claudia" at the gig and Ben was not best pleased! Look forward to seeing them again if they make it to Blighty next year. Glad Chicago was amazing for u.

  • Typed out a (late) reply but it seems to have been lost!!!

  • Didn't spoil it for me. I should have been there but for hospital appointment. So thanks very much for giving me a flavour of what I missed. Brilliant band. Saw them in Chicago in September. I can get to Chicago but not the 300 miles to London!! Best wishes, Mick.

  • @mickpickering

Thanks Mick. Were they still a 3-piece in September? I felt they we're lacking the other sister's harmonies a bit. Also could have been a bit louder generally for me - but that's caus I like that loud mbv-type thing! I saw them last year (2009) at the UK mbv-atp event on the last (Sunday) night. There could not have been a more perfect band for that slot - it was absolute magic! Perfect to being you down gently. Love the SVIIB!

  • I'm sorry - I seemed to mess the sound up at the end a bit. Must have moved my hand over the mic slightly.
