Bankruptcy does not mean they tear down the factories and lobotomize the workers. It does not mean no more Chevys or Chryslers. It means the incompetent and unwise owners and bond holders forfeit assets, which will be bought up by people who believe they can make a go of it. Chapter 11 bankruptcy is the only way to save the Detroit auto companies. I think it will happen sooner or later. The only question is how much of YOUR money will be squandered before it happens.
The 'peanut butter jelly time' reference was amusing, but I think "I'm wasting away again in Herbert Hooverville" would have been more appropriate, and the only noise I have for Detroit right now is "D'OH!"

Ford doesn't need the money, they just figure if GM gets it, why not me? Chrysler was already planning on selling to GM and Renault long before this bail out nonsense. guess what corp., you'll have to join the rest of us and cut back on luxuries, forevermore.
I identify with the democratic socialist party, and all of this bailout nonsense pisses me off as a socialist because socialism is about bailing out the little guy, not giving money to the wealthy so they can continue to amass wealth through the capitalist system. This is the worst of both worlds: Out of control government spending interfering in the operations of the market PLUS capitalist gluttony at the expense of the working poor. I actually did make noise after the part where Kotecki pleaded us to do it. My noise was "boo" because Detroit stinks, lol.
