They've said in an interview that they rely on some donations, that they do get some things cheap, and they use money out of their own pocket to help make these things. But you're right, their productions are MUCH better than some of the actual big budget movies :)

I think that TDK was good for both Hilly & Hannah because they got to play the parts of usually very comical/always laughing characters.
