Hey I have a question, does Zildjian make a 18 inch crash from the 60's? I just bought one and I wasnt sure if it was a crash or a ride/crash and the guy told me it was just a crash. Sorry not educated in the vintage stuff by Zildjian
Why isn't the cymbal played in the full kit context? A K doesn't start to gain its true K qualities until it is played with the complementing instruments. I bought a 20" Istanbul Agop Series Signature ride a few months ago, and it never sounded quite right unti I played it with my whole kit and then i was blown away with the overtones and how they interacted with the rest of my cymbals and drums. A guy with a stick on cymbal does NOT make the cymbal purchase worthy.
@Isty1959 Man, what are you talking about. Obviously it would sound better with a kit, but anyone on earth who can't appreciate the sound of an old K in any situation has got to be mental. A cymbal sounds different with different kits, sticks, rooms, different players for that matter. Why can't you just appreciate it for what it is, which is an amazing cymbal to die for. And isn't that the joy of actually owning one, that you CAN play it with a kit and hear and FEEL all the beauty it can create?
