Worked!!! Apple wont let you because 1g hardware has a conflict with 3.1.2. Volume slider problem[even with the headphone plugged in!] Apple won't tell you that. Ipod is useless with no volume control. Good Job! I can use my paid for ipod now!

Nope you are not fu****. Please note that there is no need at all to downgrade to 2.2.1 because every application and game being made today in cydia and installous for 3.0 and up firmwares. So it's totally useless to downgrade. We should always keep ourselves updted. And at present 3.1.2 firmware is out. So I would recommend to go and upgrade yourself to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak & unlock it with Blackrain. Blackrain is the easiest jailbreak and unlock ever that takes 30 sec to make it happen.

It all depends on your baseband. If u have a 02:11 baseband then u can do it. But if your baseband is 4.26.08 then u can only downgrade it but u will not be able to unlock. Details are written in description.

@TheJamaican98 Thats correct friend. Only iPhones will get that error. No iPod touches will get any error. And Apple made it difficult so that people could stay with new firmware. Since 90% applications and games being developed these days are only compatible with new firmware. Not old firmware anymore.

Honestly I haven't tried it downgrading from 3.1.2 to 2.2.1. I am assuming it will not work. But try it. Let me know. Also read the description on right side of the video. You will find everything there. And since you are at 3.2.1 with 5.11.07 baseband so after downgrading u will only be able to use AT&T sim not Tmobile. Details are written in decription. Also please know that it's not that useful to downgrade now because All applications currently are based to work with 3.x FW. Not with 2.2.1

... i also tried to do it with redsnow 7.1.. there i got to the whitescreen but when i tried to restore fw 2.2.1 with shift+click it started but there was no apple logo and status bar.. after a few minutes the only thing which happened was that itunes showed an error(i dont remember which one but it wasnt 13xx but something like 160x ). then the whitescreen stayed and i had to restore the 3.0 fw..

Put iPhone in DFU mode meaning HOld home and power button together for 10 seconds then just release power button but keep holding home button for another 10 seconds . Now you will see your itunes will detect your iphone in recovery mode and your iphone screen should be totally black . Press ok and press Restore . After restoring Jailbreak and Unlock with new 'Blackrain' jailbreak method. Video is available on my channel. Blackrain jailbreaks and Unlocks on 3.1 & 3.1.2.

NOpe Sorry Friend, Downgrading Firmwares can never Downgrade baseband. Basebands can only be downgraded if you have 5.08 bootloader in your Iphone. TO check what bootloader you have you have to download "Fuzzyband" from Cydia which will tell you where you stand,

If u are coming down from 3.1 to 3.0 then you will not have service at all. This goes for both AT&T and Tmobile. For AT&T issue is different because of Apple Lock on firmware. But for Tmobile the reason is when u upgraded to 3.1 then it changed your baseband to 5.11.07. This cannot be unlocked by ultrasnow. Now even if u downgrade to 3.0 even then baseband will remain same. Now your phone can only be used with official sim like AT&T going back to 3.1.

Sorry friend. This is not going to work for 3.1 firmware. If u r at 3.1 then there is no way going back. Even if u downgrade somehow even then you will not get your service back. Iphone will say no service.

If u r currently on 3.1 then downgrading is not going to work. Even if u downgrade then u will not be able to use your iPhone as a phone. This does not apply for iPhone 2g. So now u can stay at 3.1 and some YouTube users have made a video on custom firmware for 3.1 that let's u have cydia on your iPhone. U can try that but it's still UnOfficial on windows. But if u have a mac computer then yes u can jailbreak 3.1 easily. So eventually there is no way back. Windows jailbreak is coming soon.

Allright, if vodafone is an official sim card for iPhone in Cyprus then it's going to work. Just follow the steps. But If u have an unofficial sim then this way you will only be able to downgrade to 2.2.1 but cannot unlock it. Then u Have to install 3.0 firmware and then unlock it by ultrasnow. That's problem, I do have Tmobile not AT&T....Do you have a video on how to unlock a iphone 3G 3.0.1 with no AT&T sim, the phone is restored by 8.2 itunes and all the screen has is emergency use only or connect to itunes. If u have Tmobile then u cannot downgrade it to 2.2.1. You can know why. The answer is written on top of But now if u have emergency screen then u can put your iPhone in dfu mode then go to iTunes and press shift +restore and locate 3.0 file. Then u will get same emergency screen. At this point close iTunes and open Redsnow 0.8 and this will hactivate your phone and open it in normal mode. Then put in ultrasnow source in cydia and u will get Tmobile service again.

So because I updated my iphone to 3.0.1 using itunes I won't be able to go back to 2.2.1 using your procedure, right?

Allright. Let me make it simple for you. If u have 3.0.1 on your iPhone currently then YES you can use this method to go back to 2.2.1. No matter if u if installed it from iTunes or not. But if u cuurently have 3.0.1 then go ahead follow the video correctly. Make sure you have AT&T not Tmobile.

Got it work! What was throwing me off was that you say if tha status bar does not go all the way through to start over again. So I was and it would never go all the way. I tried opening quickpwn and there it was. Thanks
