Thank you so much for this!! I love playing metal but I dont usually do the solo parts in some songs because I had no knowledge of finger tapping. Thanks!!
@jeeshwa123 well, a thing i didn't notice him mention in the video is that when you are tapping, it is good to have your input signal cranked. it looks like he's using some tubed out fenders.
I've done this a little before (mostly to show off LOL) but I never knew what I was really doing! So I'm proud to say that this is my first official tapping lesson, and I thank you very much for it!
Justin... you rock, I love all of your video's. It'll be awhile before I'm up to trying this, but I'll remember this lesson once my skill level increases some more.
this helps me a lot, ive only been playing a year or two so i don't really know the best techniques for playing. before i knew what finger tapping was i had accidentally figured it out on my own just messing around, but the way you do it makes a lot more sense.
@nimthirielhime you probably could. itd sound really awesome i think. i practice everything on the acoustic. tenacipous d do all their electric stuff on a acoustic
OMG!! thank you!!! all the other finger tapping vids i've seen are just kids tapping away, but with no theory or principle involved. with what you have in this vid, I am really sure that this will take me to a whole other sound. thanks, and i'm subscribing :)
hello,im a new guitarist and im 16 y/o.I started to play guitar cause i love metal, rock and...maybe blues. Can you guys recommend me some songs that i can practice on? I can play sweet dreams and some other Marilyn Manson's songs.I'd be greatfull.(sry about my english)
@SXIZOFREN1S Don't use online tabs, they're usually wrong. Save up and buy a tab book of a band you like. Better yet, listen to it and try to learn it totally by ear. Also, LEARN HOW TO TUNE, very very very important.
It is pretty good man do you know of any exercises for it though my hands can't stretch that well yet nor are they strong to keep going for a long time?
How do you stop the strings ringing out when tapping? when I do it at high speed it sounds good but the overtones ruin it. Please help Justin or fans.
"This is kind of a very basic finger tapping technique" sayes Justin at 6:33 after playing an ultra professional solo at 200 miles an hour. Um ye........ so what would be an advanced tachnique then???? hehe. Sensational video thank-u.
@stingrayhbr - Still basic. Just, rather than repeating four times before switching strings, he switched each time. The magic of "ultra professional" soloing isn't insanely flashy riffs, it's simple things linked well. In tab: E string: 12-5-8, B string: 12-5-8 repeat.
Another great lesson Justin - you articulate it and lay it out so nicely. Btw, I finally got around to posting a lesson for the Beat It solo (with tabs), I hope you enjoy and keep up the good work!
Whenever I tap slow it sounds good but when I start to get fast it starts to sound bad...Am I moving my fingers to fastso 1 finger muffles the other? or is it just my crappy amp?
You need strong arms to be able to do this fast
