actually this song was written, composed and produced by Patrick Cassidy and Hans Zimmer specifically for Hannibal. it was performed by Danielle De Niese And Bruno Lazzaretti.

I'm a Jenkins fan, and I love both perfomances here (better technically), but, in my opinion and to my interpretation of Dante, de Niese and Lazzaretti do a better vocal interpretation; more fragile (especially de Niese), more sad... greater emotional impact. The music & choir in the de Niese version is more haunting as well. Love the subtle harp and timpani in this one though. Overall, IMO, this mix just seems to emphasize the vocals too much over the music.
