The chinese living there that were nationalized there are also a big problem they are more corrupt than the locals. They will catch the small fish but they will never touch the big ones like their idiot last president that died. Too much protection money will always keep the big ones safe. My wife who is chinese indonesian never ever ever wants to live there again not because of all the corruption just all around Indonesia is regressing faster than ever...consume consume consume.

my wife is from Indonesia and we go there once a year from the US to visit her family. Corruption in the government and economic sector has severely hampered Indonesia's infrastructure....look around Indonesians....nice malls but once you exit the malls your highways are crumbling your bridges are falling.  I've seen corruption first hand on the streets with the cops it's pathetic. Indonesian civilians are to blame also they willingly hand out money to anyone just to do things quicker.

Indonesia is the topmost corrupted country in the world. Imagine, the rich inmate can have all the luxury in the cell just by paying the officer. Their people are cheap & can be bought easily

Looks like our neighbor hates to see our country improving.

i believe that we should not look back, but learn from the past. Dont point fingers at people and blame people for corruption, but start and maintain a non corrupted life yourself first. It takes time to clean up the legislative, political and economical system in Indonesia. I hope I can witness a, far more less/non corrupt Indonesia one day. Viva Indonesia!
