What exactly would you have done if you were the President and the GOP and Tea Party were basically filibustering the raising of the debt ceiling, which would have cut federal payroll and social security payments (not a good idea I assume). This so called Super Committee is not really cutting anything. They propose to cut the rate of growth 1.2 trillion over a ten year period. Like Ron Paul says the only thing that really matters is the next year, after that things change, new people get voted in and the cuts don't cut it. Ron Paul has a real plan to really cut the budget by a trillion the first year and have a balanced budget by the third year. He is the only one seriously addressing the issues and the only adult in Washington.

The government doesn't spend by printing, that is done by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving & Printing & is determined by whatever amount the public wishes to physically hold. The Federal Government spends by crediting bank accounts. Debt is issued for interest rate maintenance, & taxes are to give demand for a nation's currency & regulate aggregate demand.

That being said Mr Hudson's advice is to do more than spend.

@WilhelmDrake Thats how it's expanded. The government issues bonds, the bonds are purchased by others. Less so recently and the federal reserve is now the "buyer of last resort". Since the gov can issue any number of bonds it would like, with the remainder being bought by the Fed, that IS inflation. The Fed doesn't use money to buy them, it simply writes a blank check.

The only limit being how fast/high they want to push inflation.

Banks then expand this new money/credit greatly.
