Some of these comments are from experts---experts at showing us that they know nothing of what they are talking about. I have an MSAR STG 556 but due to time constraints I'm limited to field stripping it and dry-firing it. I'm assuming it's okay to dry-fire it since the only weapon I know of that is not okay with dry-firing is a .22. Guess I'll dig around & find the manufacturer's Owner Manual which does not contain a lot of info in it. So far 556 hasn't let me down while shooting decent ammo.
@ADyingFetus It looks like a steyr on the outside, but internally they are not the same. Basically Microtech went "Lets make a gun, make it look like the steyr, have the ergos of the steyr, but make it a new gun on the inside"
...Seriously? I'm from Hungary, after some University I joined The French Foreign Legion. I'm 4.5 years threw my first 5. @JAllenAustralia There have been 100's of pistols including the Glock 17 & 18c, 1911's & Mauser C96 Broom handle that have stocks. Get a hold of IWI & tell them know since the 50's the Uzi has been a Bullpup. The Beretta Cx4 Storm-pup "NEW NAME" It has a a stock, and the mag goes in the the pistol grip, that's a Bullpup, same as the H&K MP7 Retractable Stock mag in the Pistol grip you got it. Le Legion use many things, Google or researched something, then MAYBE you would know what a Bullpup is.
@JAllenAustralia Post a video, tittled "IWI Uzi Bullpup" & see how many negative comments/ Dislike's you get ending up as the fuck who thought an Uzi was a Bullpup. There isnt anything on the net other than you trying to be a smart prick calling the Uzi a Bullpup on YT for attention but you dont know shit
Saying "the magazine is behind the trigger like most bullpups" is an oxymoron, the style of Assault Rifle "Bullpup" is configured so that the magazine is behing the trigger group and pistol grip... I Wish the Giat FAMAS F-1, civilian version The "MAS .223" imported by CAI from France back in 89' were possible to find in the states the last time I saw 1 of the 900 or so imported, was on GunBroker going for $29,000... @JAllenAustralia Your Incorrect, having the Mag going in to the pistol does NOT make it a Bullpup. Is the Beretta CX4 Storm a Bullpup ? or how about an IMI UZI, Bullpup ? H&K MP7 Bullpup ? Nope.
A Bullpup is a Bullpup IF & Only IF the Pistol Grip, Handguard, Thumbhole, & Trigger are IN FRONT of the Magazine, Action & Trigger Group.

This decreases the firearm's length and weight while retaining the same barrel length"
Name 1 Bullpup w/ the Mag in the Pistol Grip? That configuration has the Action ABOVE the MAG.
@JAllenAustralia I'm well aware of the breakdown of an Uzi, the stock is a Folding Stock FYI. Seriously your a fucking joke if you think an Uzi SMG is a Bullpup go on any one of your favorite gun Fourms ask "Is an Uzi SMG a Bullpup?" Your lack of firearms knowledge is a joke. I've already given you the DEFINITION from Google. Here is the customer service # for a company that makes semi auto Uzi's in the states, call them and say your having trouble with your "Uzi Bullpup": (212)-941-7696 HAHAH
@JAllenAustralia In the French Foreign Legion we use a sidearm called a PAMAS F1, it's a licensed Beretta M9, I also am Issued a FAMAS F-1, & realized that on my sidearm, the magazine is behind the rigger, so is the action, the hammer, firing pin ect. the only thing in the front of the trigger is the barrel so I have 2 Bullpups and was stricken by an epiphany! All pistols are bullpups you can make some money with that "Special Logic" you have. So Uzi's have been Bullpups this whole time.
My little brother owns an MSAR almost exactly like that. Got to shoot it last Christmas. It recoils differently, seems like it comes straight back. Certainly an eye catcher at the range and a lot of fun.

Yeah, I picked up one of these and after the mag catch upgrade and a brittle bolt replacement (cracked due to an initial poor heat treatment process) I have had terrific service from mine. Got the 20" barrel tho and I can say mine runs great as well, and their customer service is first rate top notch. So is RatWorx as well. A nice American version of the AUG.
@viol999 most of the AUG clones have a selector that allows you to switch which side the spent shells eject from... i (being a lefty shooter) was worried about this as well before i found that out.
@violenceinc You could always save up 750K and open your own shop and you can do whatever you want too....We own the gun....don't always assume everyone is trying to screw you.
@Iraqveteran8888 He is testing the product under different conditions to make sure the customer get a quality product! Also takes care of the break in period which saves the end user ammo costs!
@anteracmacash the little black nub inside the trigger guard? IIRC, its actually part of the the trigger; the trigger goes over and around the top of the grip area.
At least they got rid of the Bolt assist stud on the cocking lever, that was a real biearch to hit in a exciting time, Ive thrown many 1000's or rounds down the spout with the ADF.
@jimkressin Bullpups tend to be more accurate than conventional rifles, though, the bullpup style is mainly for CQC, mag at the back means you can really swing the barrel around corners alot faster.
read on thefirearmblog the other day that Steyr stopped production of the semi auto AUG? :( They were already expensive, now the price will just go up for the ones floating around. Hopefully MSAR will keep these around.
Man that thing flings the brass! Cool gun. Hard to believe it's been around since the 80's. Must've looked like something out of a science fiction movie back then.
I just had the pleasure of firing one of these it had never been fired before and the owner (a friend of a friend) could get one shot off and the next round wouldn't feed in. It was a lube issue.
Runs smooth as butter! That is a nice firearm as well. Always love to see the brass fly and looks like you had a great time with it. Thanks for sharing and posting.
@GhettoSage The guy in the vid may have been thinking of P90 maybe when he said this? The mag still is behind the trigger but it is also on top so that may have been why "most" came into play there.
@kiwitedferny When i was in the Army these steyr rilfles were just starting to be issued They are great but I still Love the FN SLR There is just something special about 7.62x51 nato. The range on both the 5.56x45 nato and 7.62x51 nato is similar and 5.56x45 nato is an accurate round But you CAN NOT DENY THE ALL OUT STOPPING POWER of 7.62x51 nato.
@kiwitedferny Have a look at the bullpup kits for SKS / AK's that are available If you are allowed to have semi auto's in NZ. The best of both worlds 7.62x39 has less recoil than 7.62x51 but for up close out to 150 meters they are a pretty good cartridge. @vince38curious2 We can have Semi-Auto's here if you have an MSSA endorsement on your firearms licence. I have just seen a 'Sporterised' Styer for sale here ($9000)....think I may have to grab it...
@kiwitedferny What the FUCK :O) 9000 For a semiauto WOW Norinco SKS 7.62x39 10 Shot Bayonet, Sling Unfired $795 Standard SKS Choate Norinco SKS/SKK Synthetic Pistol Grip Stock, With Top Guard $220 Colt AR15 223rem 30 Shot Acog Sight, Piccitini Forend, Sure Fire Torch Front Grip CAR Collapsable Stock EXC $14900 This was copied directly from w (.) cleaver firearms (.) c o m here. Class C/D page
@a55kika18 Yes, I would. We carried the FN FAL (Brit SLR) and M16 at the same time in our grunt platoons. The extra ammo you can carry and the shortness of the Styer, plus the optical sight makes it a more versitile weapon IMHO.
Nice setup. Congrats.
