I think you can get the DVD for about $ 10. now. I think it used to be about $29. If there is a Japanese video store in your area that store may have the unabriged version. The version released to America has 20 minutes cut out.

Sugiyama-san's tired facial expression in the subway is dead on and hilarious. People forget that there was a downside to prosperity and full employment. A dull,mind numbing job and long hours.Return home half dead.... late at night.Same thing every day.This is a brilliant film,one of the best to emerge from "boom era" Japan.

Respect for all. The subtitles and the way they did it is probably meant for the Hard of Hearing or the Deaf. I guess they combined both. But that's OK. I respect it. Great movie.
