  • His name was actually Giovani Coboto. There's no way they spoke English on that ship

  • I'm from Newfoundland and I still live there. And there are lots of legends in Newfoundland but John Cabot is The True Legend in Newfoundland. Thumbs Up if you agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • John Cabot was Italian you ass pirates..

  • So.. when there will be o fish.. the world will end? sorry ti just sounded like it.. lol

  • Henry VII doesn't look impressed... like he was expecting gold or something.

  • @MajBlood That's probably how he felt in real life.

  • Captain you got to see this! Dude, it is just fucking fish.

  • ...its funny cuz theres not that many fish there anymore xD... or so every teacher has told me.

  • Apparently we've reached the end of time!

  • Bravo Giovanni!

  • AWWWWWW FUCK time is up i guess we are living on a thin wire now LOL

  • I remember growing up on these history minutes, they were great fun.

  • lol

  • A great book to read. Henry Kamen. He is an american living in Barcelona. 21st Century Spaniards will hate Italians for Henry Kamens insightful but academic humility.

Spain would not have had an Empire, which it was not, if Italians were not part of it. The truth hurts.

  • lol, until the end of time, more like until 1964

  • until commercial fishers over fish it

  • Man, I'd love to see Icelands "Heritage" moment of this incident

  • I love it, England wants to get involved with exploration out west so what do they do? well like everyone else they hire an Italian! Of Giovanni Cabotto doesn't sound right for an English explorer! Let's call him John Cabot!

  • @mikeo713713 The whole Spanish enterprise of expanding and colonising West of the Atlantic was funded by Italians, Genoans, Neapolitans and later the people of Florence. It is fact, the very first area of Spanish colonisation was a joint venture with Italians and Spaniards; the Canary islands. The Italians set up sugar cane farms there and injected money in to the economy by setting up arrable land for vegetation. I am reading a great book at the moment on Spanish Empire (Empire by default).

  • Until the end of time....So they thought... funny how arrogant we can be...

  • until the end of time or until we overfish them....which ever comes first. XD

Plus they were a lot bigger than that. Cod as big as a man.

  • Until The End Of TIme, or maybe 1987

  • all of a sudden i'm in the mood for fried Cod and taters

  • LOL! The British and Canadians think he landed in Newfoundland, but the Americans think he landed in Nova Scotia... I wonder who's right?

  • the music from this commercial sounds like the last of the mohicans.

  • There was no Cabot or Caboto its a big LIE!! The English Made this up so they can manipulate History.. The First Europeans to the Canadian shores were the Portuguese.. Find me enough proof of Cabot you can't... cause it's all made up...

  • @PunchPow it was actually the VIking

  • My favourite actor is in this!!!

  • Until 1992 to be more specific lol

  • my teacher's friend is a part of the movie

  • Some of these Part of our Heritage commercials are so epic!

  • In my opinion Cabot was the best of the Rennaissance explorers. Columbus has nothing on Cabot

  • "enough to feed this Kingdom until the end of time"

  • until the end of time...EPIC!

  • @xtremefxguitar too bad the cod fish are almost gone lol

it's official: if 2012 does happen cabot was the first one to call it lol

  • till the end of time lol

    more like the year 2008

  • more like 1992

but then again they probably couldn't predict the stupidity / consequence of trawlers dragging the ocean floor

  • plus the year long fishing of the natives who refuse to acknowledge that the fish are depleting and they need to do their part and stop fishing too!

  • @JoanieBlackburn well at least natives will never drag the bottom of the ocean taking every fish that is there, neither will we fish soo much that we export tonnes of fish to foreign countries every year. we fish for our families, and maybe if non natives did the same, then we wouldnt have the problem of depleting fish supply. a thousand men fishing 10 fish each is nothing compared to 100 men catching 1000 fish each

  • @racheljean

    500 years aint bad

  • I belive his real name was Giovani Cabboto.

  • it was. but he sailed for Britain so they anglisized his name.

  • Your right my friend. In Canada i still have alot of Italian friends. They get so pissed off on how he was converted through out history to become quickly made into the J C from G C

  • First off its Giovanni Caboto. He has been referred to as Giovanni Caboto and John Cabot, but we are not sure of his name for sure. You see people don't know where he's from, he came to Henry from Venezia, and albeit his wife and children were Venetians, he was made on Honoury citizen, therefore we see that he was not from the city. Its believed that his first name was some variant of the name John (Juan, Giovanni etc.) Now that variant, + surname cabot/caboto depends on his origins.
