All of the disney princesses are really young. I dont think teenage marraige is a very good lesson. Snow white-14 Cinderella-16-19 Aurora-16 Ariel-16 Belle-17-21 Mulan-16 Jasime-17 Pocahontas-17 Tiana-19 Repunzel-18
!st of all most of those girls were anime not disney.Anyway many people say that there are good messages to disney girls, but there has to be more to it. you cant be perfect your whole life and have a happy ending, sometimes you have take the gloomy/scary path to realize what you've wanted in your life and appreciate what was fought for.
even thought some of these arent princesses, its nice to see someone saying positive things about the messages fairytales send out to young girls. Yes they are all classed as pretty, yes they all do stupid things in the pursuit of love and yes they normally disobey authority to get there, but come on people, its better than them all being sluts.
these stories are a lot older then Disney's version of them but most people forget or worse never know the real stories that they came from. take Pocahontas she was 13 or 14 when she saved John Smith ( in his 40's ) and was the first convert of her people to Christianity and later married John Rolfe and one of their descendants was the wife of President Woodrow Wilson.
luv the vid, but WHAT DISNEY PRINCESSES TEACH US . . . IF YOU'ER BEAUTIFUL EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE BUT IF YOU'RE UGLY YOU'RE EVIL AND YOUR LIFE WILL SUCK
Mulan may be the stronger/strongest of the selection but even Mulan teaches us that it is ONLY okay to break the rules and be yourself if you succeed at doing it while pretending to be someone else - and so long as you go back to your "accepted role" after you are done with your little 'adventure'.
yes it is true that all of these can teach us that but it has like a 10 to 30 percent chance of comeing true if your trying to find loyalty or love ( all those things ) all those things like fight for what you love and everything is something that covers 60 to 80 percent chance of happening but the other 10 percent of us what if we believe that love is stupid. to me I belive it is stupid because (stupid) it just brings in more hate and love is just about moneey or your own gain.
Pretty sure they all taught us to be hot and find a man. There are other ways to interpret the messages, but how is a child's mind going to interpret what they see? They're going to see, pretty girls falling in love with men. That's basically it yo.
Ariel taught us that disobeying your parents, running away from home, making deals with evil witches and living in a made-up fantasy will give you a prince and a castle and everybody around you will still love you c:
the only thing that they teach us is that a man completes us. dont get me wrong i love the movies but their life doesnt get better until the end when they end up with their prince charming. the real stories r better
@doomcookie180 OMG! i could see why you've never heard of melody because she was in a sequel to the little mermaid and i've never heard of eilowny either but megara?! she was in hercules. she was the only princess with a sexy, sassy, bad ass attitude. all these other girls were sweet and generous but meg was the once betrayed heartbreaker who found her soft spot in hercules.
@MaddieNguyen0908 ikr! i admire meg because she was kind of a racy character for disney. she was a woman who expressed her sexuality and i admire mulan too because she showed a woman can do anything a man can do BETTER! i liked esmeralda too because she didnt care what anyone thought of her but i just dont like the guy she ends with in the movie. quesmodo or however you spell his name loved her
What u had for fiona wasn't bad really. I mean yeah, she needed (was lied too btw) a prince to rescue her, but she really could kick butt all on her own. What do u mean u made a mistake? Pretty good I'd say.
@watupgurl01 she wound up gettin with the prince and there was a 2nd movie. she wasnt a princess at 1st but really, i think the only 2 that were since the beginning were ariel and pocahontas...i think lol
the majority of the female characters in Disney movies seem to have a recurring theme of having to give something up to get what they desire. ariel for example had to give up her ability to swim under water to get the guy, belle had to put up with the beast treating her badly until her kindness turned him around which wouldnt happen in the real world, jasmine was FORCED to get married, mulan showed independence up unitl the end when she throws it all away for the guy thats what i see and ima guy
Ah yes, 'Princess Gate'...."Disney princesses are bad role models for young girls!!!" etc. To be honest, I think it's unlikely that kids REALLY take any morals or values away from a freaking Disney film - I certainly didn't learn to be 'racist' or 'submissive' or anything stupid like that - but even if they did, I think there are plenty of good, strong female characters in Disney. Belle, Jasmine, Jane, Tiana, Pocahontas, MULAN! Maybe not so much the earlier princesses, though...
Holy crap, well I sincerely hope those really are the lessons you took away from those movies, but disney has done more to corrupt and denegrate little girls than any other movie production company out there, when you REALLY watch those movies as an adult and look at what they are teaching our little girls my God...suffice it to say that my daughter has never been subjected to this crap, and any Dad's out there that care about their little girls oughtta take a second look at these films.
I thought this was cute! I also loved the anime scenes. Especially Ryou and Kyou from Clannad with LOYALTY as the tag to that picture. I agree with most lessons taught, but there are those in which I do not, also not every princess was a princess or was from Disney. I still loved it though!
...Fiona is not disney, she's dreamworks. Anastasia is Fox. I also disagree with some of the "lessons" you chose. I think some different ones were "taught". Other than that...I like it.
Erm..... Each person takes what they will from different things. Sorry, but I disagree with most of the "lessons learned," in each cartoon character. (Not all of them princesses by the way.)
I thought giselle taught us something different cuz she was gonna marry edward and then ended up w/ dat other guy and dat ariel taught us to follow our hearts no matter the risk
