  • RIP Pamela

  • im friends with her mum

  • I remember a movie with Pamela, Trevor Howard, and William Holden. It was called The Lion. Late 50's ? early 60's ? Anybody remember that one?

  • When you can pair diabolical with sexy you have something. I'm ready to see her in everything she ever did. I am realizing that you can be a big film buff and still miss a few. Actually this is probably the fault of my crappy memory, but honestly I can't remember remembering Pamela Franklin. She's not one you'd forget very easily or want to forget that is. I bet she'd be good playing an older character, but if she's only 60 now then she's got a few good Hollywood years left in her. Hint hint.

  • Great to see so many fans of Pamela here, and I loved this video. Five stars and favourited.

  • It's been thirty years since Pamela's appeared on film or TV. But she will always have a huge number of fans. She was a remarkable actress with a prodigious reservoir of talent.

  • beautiful. I have watched her in ' the innocents' and 'the legend of hell house'

  • @manolo1130

  • @AZRWSJ

    hi:

i already saw it, thank you. She was a very good actress, it´s a shame she retired so youg.

  • fantastic actress and sweet face and body sexy.

  • She combined beauty with superb acting ability.

And she only got better (and more beautiful) as she got older.

I'll never understand why she didn't go on to become a big star as an adult.

    Film studio politics, maybe?

It may have been something like that.

  • I'm American and, while visiting Ireland in 1966, was told I look just like Pamela Franklin. (We're the same age.) I had never heard of her, but of course was curious...and I can see the resemblance. I renewed my interest in her due to Doppelganger Week on Facebook, LOL!

  • thanks for your comment i have sent you a message.

    from p.

  • @SoJerz609,

If you look anything like Pamela Franklin, you must be very beautiful!

    Lucky you!

  • Well, I don't know about that, but there was definitely a strong resemblance when we were teenagers....the eyes, mostly. I'd love to see her photo now, since we're both now 60! (Happy Birthday, Ms. Franklin!)

  • Here's the most recent pic I could find of PF.

It's not contemporary. My guess is it's from the 80s or so (?).

In any case, it's not from the 60s, and if it is from the 70s, it's late-70s, at the earliest.

But me thinks it's an "80s TV-guest-star actress" pic.

I'll bet she's gorgeous even today.

    Maybe you are too!

  • Is there a pic attached somewhere?

  • Yes--On your channel page.

I couldn't get the photo address post to register. Don't know why. But the pic address is in your account/channel comments.

  • @SoJerz609

Oh wow. I didn't know Facebook had a Doppleganger Week. When was it? Please I want to know.

  • @my5guysgirl Doppelganger week on FB was last year sometime.

  • I assume Pamela Franklin simply retired from acting to start a family. Sometimes that happens though it would be nice to have contact with her. Oh! She did provide an audio commentary to The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. That was something at least.

  • hello TOTSenthuiast.

    ____________________

thanks for your comment on pamela-

do you mean the audio commentary on the official dvd the prime of miss jean brodie- there are 2 other versions as far as i know, have you seen the uncut version? regards azrwsj.

  • It is the 2004 edition. Not sure if it's uncut or not but I would think it would be uncut.

  • Whatever happened to Pamela Franklin? I thought she was one of the sexiest British actresses I ever saw during the 1970s. And a fine actress too. Where is that episode of Fantasy Island she was on?

  • I wonder if Pammy ever works in the bookstore??

  • She is probably my favorite actor. I like her especially in The Innocents, Into The Darkness, Legend Of Hell House and the 2 episodes she did of Bian Clements Thillers

  • I always admired Pamela Franklin as an actress. Her behavior regarding her fans however is another matter. Is Ms. Franklins privacy so very imporntant that she can't sign and autograph or two?, or answer a few e mails? I doubt she's done either of these things in the last 10 years.Frankly her stand offish behavior leaves me a little cold.

  • How churlish of her not to respond to your insightful (I am sure) E-mails! Lord knows she hasn't anything better to do. I don't blame you for switching your ardor. May I suggest someone with plenty of arcane tattoos and piercings...I KNOW you'll be happy. So will Miss Franklin!!!

  • seahero49- Calm down now. I sent no correspondence to the the exaulted Ms. Franklin...ever, and (if I may suggest) you have no idea what makes me, or Ms. Franklin happy. I'm sorry you took offence at my comment. That said, I highly doubt it would impose upon Ms. Franklin's lifestyle to start a website, answer some correspondence, or to make herself a little more sociable regarding her fans. So please, try to turn the hypersensitive dial down a few notches.

  • Quite right! I have no idea what makes Miss Franklin happy. The reason I thought that I might guess about what makes YOU happy is that you did say you had an appreciation of her work. I thought that I might point out(sarcastically)that the other side of the coin is the shallow raison d'etre of so many megalomaniac actresses of today! You seem to have more taste than that would allow.Sorry I gave you both barrels, you were entitled to only one.Why not join the drumbeat for an autobiography!

  • It may interest seahero49 and dioxinpie to know that I once held Ms. Franklin in very high esteem, just like you two do. I'm afraid however we all have to face the fact that Ms. Franklin WAS a very talented actress, but is now an introverted middle aged woman, who's cares include very little, except herself. This is why there will be no autobiography. Ms. Franklin is a product of too much fan worship, an too little exposure to the real world. I hope I'm wrong on this point, but I don't think so.

  • "I hope I'm wrong on this point, but I don't think so. "

That's where your rationale is so skewed. The Lady owes you NOTHING. You just don't seem to get it, do you? You're wanting Her to pander to your conceit by demanding some kind of recognition. And when you don't get it, you become embittered and angry.

Tell you what: delete your postings here and I'll do the same; besides cleaning up this thread it'll go some way towards your redemption.

  • Dioxinpie-I am not in need of "redemption", and I did not imply that Ms. Franklin "owed" me anything, nor do I recall becoming bitter or angry at anything Ms. Franklin did. You are becoming far too emotional about this. I do maintain however, it would be in keeping with protocol for Ms. Franklin to become a little more outgoing regarding her fanbase. I did not suggest this as a "requirement". I think you need to take a stress pill, or perhaps some yoga classes to keep your emotions in check!

  • You're a hopeless head case!

"Hear ye! Hear Ye! Miss Pamela Franklin will be forever indebted to her fans by being impelled to engage in reciprocal acknowledgment, thereby indulging a conceit".

Word of caution to you, my friend: Don't call on her, I hear she's pretty handy with a fireplace poker and a pair of scissors. Oh, my offer to you stands.

  • It's that kind of attitude that encouraged her to leave her film career, almost 3 decades ago. You admire her work? Fine. But since when was it contingent upon her to acknowledge the - probably unwanted - attention of a fan? She's running a business; she does not need - or want - intrusive and invasive attention-seeking admirers.

You want her undivided attention? Go watch one of her DVDs, Dude.

  • Mystery Pier Books --- # is 310- 657-5557 - her voice was once on the recorded message

  • How about a pic of what Pammy looks like today? Are you game enough to pop into her bookshop, and ask if she'd like her picture taken, so that it can be posted on You Tube, for all her fans to have a look? If she chases you out, wielding a broom, don't blame me, though.

  • PLEASE DON'T CALL HER "PAMMY'. That's the sort of thing that made her consider getting out of show biz in the first

place! That was a sad day for her fans. I still haven't recovered!

  • Sorry, didn't mean to diminish Miss Pamela Franklin. She is, without question, one of my actresses. You may have some basis for telling me off; on her Jean Brodie DVD commentary she alludes to the fact that, on the Hawaii Five-0 set, she was referred to as "that girl" by one of the Assistant Directors.

  • Apology accepted. You know,it is said that we are only 6 people removed from any specific other person on earth. To that end, I can claim "one person removal". I once worked on a BBC docudrama about haunted houses and met an A D who had worked with Miss Franklin! He called her "The madam".(He ment that in the nice way). But if you know about the book shop, then you have certainly met her! I am envious sir,ENVIOUS!

  • No, I haven't been to her bookshop (some 11,000kms away from home). But I'm a frequent visitor to North America, so the next time I'm in LA I'll go over to West Hollywood, and call into her shop. I don't expect to see Her behind the till, saying "Next, please", but I can sure say I've tread on hallowed floors where "She" has walked. And I'll be happy with my pilgrimage. Heck, I'll even buy a book, to validate my homage to Her.

  • PAMMY should start a website with a Q&A section...she could call it "ask PAMMY"

ha ha ha!! (I crack myself up sometimes!!)

  • I can fully believe that. Gazing into the mirror, hours on end, chatting endlessly; being enraptured.

    Doctor! Nurse! Come quick!

  • She wore glasses in Jean Brodie, but I got the feeling that they were blank lenses. They really suited her though!

  • HELLO tanagerbirder= thanks very much for your comment, ithink the glasses made her look a little bit frumpy compared to the pamela we know, anyway just a part she played. thanks again paul.
