  • thanx josh too intraducing me to this band and so many more when we were teen agers...sebadoh,dinosour jr,mud honey ..etc.......this era of music went so unnoticed but not forgotten,,,,,,10 15 years later still rockin this shit....

  • This is the best "unknown" band of the 90's. They were part of an awesome scene back then. A scene that was so special and will never be repeated. I saw them live and then went to a house party after the show. I couldn't believe that they were at the party. They came because some guy simply invited them. What a cool bunch of guys and what a great time it was to be young!!!!

  • they kick assss

  • Anyone else prefer Vee Vee to Icky Mettle?

  • @eddievanhallen5150 Absolutely! Vee Vee is way better! Harnessed In Slums, Greatest of All Time, Floating Friends, Death in The Park, Fabricoh are all fucking amazing and top everything on Icky Mettle.

  • The best gift I received this year was AOL reuniting and seeing them in person.

  • seeing them on Friday, awh yeaaaaaah!!!

  • @SOADafi I saw them not too long ago..they were soooooo awesome!

  • GREAT SONG GREAT ALBUM GREAT BANDALIAS WAS KICKASS

  • this video is the fuckin tits

  • i miss 90s real music back then

  • ...so, is that Zach Galifianakis?

  • They're back together!

  • We want waste!

  • Another awesome band from North Carolina that will never get their dues

  • @f0r3v3rl33t uh i think plenty of ppl know. their upcoming show in DC is sold out.....

  • I can finally understand why my english teacher loves them

  • Actually there's way more, but I ran out of room.....Archers of Loaf, June 12th, Dallas, Fuck yeah!!!!

  • They sure the fuck are!! And guess who will be in Dallas on June 12th to see them? I think you guessed it....the spouse and I purchased our tickets last night.....I'm so stoked. What a fucking night that is going to be!!!!! Give me Audiowhore, give me Web in Front, give me Wrong, give What did you Expect? Give me South Carolina, give me Telepathic Traffic, give me Might, give me Plumbline, give me Dead Red Eyes, give me White Trash Heroes, give me Mutes in the Steeple, and finally, give me this!

  • miss this band so much! :(

  • @bigbadplumberlife Just heard they're playing at least 10 stops this summer on a reunion tour. Sasquatch Music Fest...couple dates in SanFran, couple in Chicago...Check it out!

  • hey! that's Norwood there at the table playing bingo! (right?) nice slick red jacket.

  • Comment removed

  • why do old people like bingo so much?

  • I've always thought that AOL was better than they had a right to be. This stuff still remains infectious and kickass at the same time, nearly 20 years on. Greatness.

  • i heard this song in a skate vid. whenever i skate this song is in my head

  • @TheHockeypunk666 elementality vol 1 no doubt

  • @CODcollections yepp haha. its fuckin sick

  • @TheHockeypunk666 haha too true.

  • I'll be damned, this is the first noisey indieish rocky band i've ever heard who isn't fronted by some limpwristed wispy voiced anti rocker. good stuff.

  • great great great great band.

  • i play the guitar guingla guingla guingla guingla guingla guingla

  • Nooooooooooooooooorwoooooooooooooooooood Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

  • Yesss, been looking for this song since I heard it in The Boys Club!

  • This and Underdogs of Nipomo are their two best songs IMO. Side note: I once saw them in Indianapolis at the Patio and was waiting for them to play Underdogs of Nipomo and someone from the crowd yelled out for them to play "Underdogs of something" the lead singer says, "You don't even know thecorrect name of the fucking song, so fuck you, we're not gonna play it". I was hoping he was joking but sadly he wasn't. Looking back it was pretty fucking funny.

  • That one dislike must've been an accidental click..

  • Most favorite band ever. Serious. No band compares to Archers of Loaf's sound.

  • It's a crying shame how little known this group is considering how criminally they have been ripped off by pop-punk groups later in the decade or by more mainstream alt acts like Bush. What a remarkable sound!

  • I wish it was still the 90s....

  • fucking love them - from Australia!

  • i remember this song was in a skate video, it was awsome

  • @californiadewd it was in elementality volume 1 i have that video haha its prettyy good

  • @XxassassinxX47 very nice

  • good song

  • seriously, how underrated were these bitches? they're one of the best rock bands i've heard in friggin' ages.

  • I'm the only person I know personally who knows this band. Why is it that AOL went totally unnoticed?? They are incredible.

  • @WhiteConejo good lord, amigo. america online discs were strewn everywhere in the 90s. were you living in a crevice?

  • @WhiteConejo I know what you mean. The are quite possibly the greatest unknown modern band. I still listen to them all the time!

  • What a great song! Funny, you don't expect that voice to come from that guy :)

  • this song kicks so much ass

  • there is a prophecy carved into a stone many days journey into a vast desert. it reads (and im translating here): "one day, when independent music has become stale and hipsters roam the streets freely and foals is able to sell their albums and the people are dejected, archers of loaf shall reform and gig alot and then they all wont be so said anymore."

so yeah. get off your asses archers of loaf

  • @legarageraj Saw 'em on my 23rd birthday. I got a really stupid tattoo, had mediocre sex with my then girlfriend, and then saw this show with one of my best friends. Made a pretty mundane day into one I'll remember for the rest of my life. Thanks AOL!

  • thank goodness bands like this made music videos.

  • Does someone know a basstab?

  • why did chapel hill own so hard?

  • A lot of awesome musicians out that way. Always wondered that too. haha

  • @formandfile So that Chapel Hill could suck so bad now.

  • @formandfile Not really... Superchunk, Archers, blah, blah kind of suck. Bland pop punk. Now, Polvo? They were fucking geniuses. They are, I mean... They just recently played a bunch of shows and I guess are semi-active. But Chapel Hill didn't "own so hard" or anything of the sort. Oh, and Breadwinner were fucking awesome too. But this pop punk stuff, with a small side of noise? Meh. Sounds like the dude from the Replacements singing for Hüsker Dü 10 years after that sound was established.

  • @SteveAlbinisPussy Agreed Polvo were the greatest thing to come from Chapel Hill

  • @formandfile You mean, why DOES Chapel Hill own so hard.

  • @formandfile Nothin' else to do!

  • @formandfile POLVO, Archers...

  • I don't know if Albini had anything to do with this album, but all I have to say is EARTH, ATOMIZER.. GO! ^_^ Big Black and Shellac still rock.

Archers, Pavement, Treepeople, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Seaweed, Hum, Creedle... all gone away... it makes me sad. =[

  • pavement are touring next year my friend

  • @sinnison23 dont forget Guided By Voices :(

  • @sinnison23

shit, i forgot all about creedle...i had one of their albums and it ruled!

  • An indie rock gem :-D

  • that guy at :11 seconds with the blue suit looks like Zach Galifinakis..it might actually be him

  • Definitely not.

  • Looks more like Kenneth Branagh to me... XD

  • These guys put on the best show I've seen at the Sapphire Supper Club in Orlando. The crowd, the band, and the music merged into one. Archers records were in constant rotation amongst my group of friends...they were the fucking kings of indie rock.

  • hey, did steve albini record this album, the drums sound albini-ish (i dont think thats a word). I've been looking for this album sense forever, but I cant find it :(

  • To my knowledge, it was Bob Weston who engineered this album. I don't know that Albini had anything to do with this one even though Steve & Bob often work together. In any case, I love the drums on this album.

  • albini-ish is DEFINITELY a word.

  • i love this song

  • The boys club 's soundtrack ,really love it :)))

  • AOL kick ass!

  • just kidding

  • their only somewhat mediocre song.

  • What a gem. Classic.

  • Saw them in charlotte NC 3 times over the years. Totally the best.

  • Loudest band I have ever seen. VZDs about 10 years ago.

  • Saw them live at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago back in the mid-90's. David Yow was wasted and hanging in the crowd for the show. Beautiful, foggy memories.......

  • Eric has hair in this video

  • such a jam!

  • as a newcomer to this extraordinary band i can honestly say, I didnt know this band sang this song!

    sick

  • Saw them years ago at Maxwells in Hoboken. Best show ever!

  • Great band - caught them years ago in NYC. Kicked BUTT live, take it from me.

  • By far the best band ever! I had a chance to meet Eric Bachman and I didnt dare to talk to him. I so regret it!

  • could have been one of the greatest opening tracks ever had it not been track 2

  • yeah, but Step Into The Light is pretty freaking badass too.

  • Agreed. S.I.T.L. is an excelent kindling to the explosive conflagration that ensues with Harnessed.

  • INCREDIBLE SONG

  • best fucking band ever

  • best band ever!

  • Ain't no party like a bingo party coz a bingo party don't stop.

  • these guys are cool AND they influenced Brand New (my favorite band) so that makes em awesome

  • So in love with Eric Bachmann. Especially with those glasses

  • great song from a truly great band!

  • timeless

  • Does anyone have the AofL song called Bacteria, I think it was on a Peel Session.

It'd be great if someone uploaded it.

  • ive seen 100+ shows in my 17 years of seeing shows and the archers on the vee-vee tour in richmond va is probably in my top 3 next to the misfits and david bowie. They rocked the stage down.

  • I saw them during the Icky Mettle tour when they were in Ann Arbor at Ricks and it was a great show. Helium opened for them and they were pretty decent but not quite in the same realm as the Archers.

  • great band

  • i've been trying to find a tab for this song for ages, if anyone finds one, i'll be forever in your debt

  • this is the shit!

  • i'd have to say that this is my favourite song of all time... i wish i could have seen archers live ;(

  • I saw them back in '95 if I can recall -- it was at a high school, I think they playing on a stage in the cafeteria!

I really miss that era of solid, creative indie rock. In retrospect Archers have held up surprisingly well!

  • Goddamn, I love this song.

  • soooooo fuckin good live

  • What a good band.

  • Oh yeah, and I weigh 420 lbs. I wish I had a cracker like that kid in this video does. I would take that cracker and smear a buffet on it. Mmm.

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Snuff the leader with a baddass plan

Take what you want from the palm of his hand

The running joke, running joke's running dry

strip the color from the meat of my eye

  • Said the leader with the bad ass brown,

take what you want from the brother his town,

We're running drugs, running, drugs, running dry,

Smack the color from the meat of my eye.

I won't wait! We won't late! They drunk late!

Side to side with a dry sponge journey to his face, you let me down for the second time straight.

That's what I've been singing in my car for the past 12 years in my car singing it. Loaf rules.

  • "with the tired smile cut into your face"

I always heard it as "with the talisman" something something...

goddamnit, Archers were too good for this world...

  • Ha ha, me too! I hear the correct way now though, thanks.

  • what a fuckin awsome band .these guys just make me realize theres alot of awful shit out there.

  • wow who knew old ppl cud be so violent. this song is like amazing i love it i listen to it every mornin and night

  • GOD, i hope the few comments on this,is nothing more then lack of knowing,Fore this song should be a window to many,A view to their souls...........

  • This song is amazing.. but then so is so much of wut they do, lets face it, they were genuisies in the indie rock world. I wish i could have them live!!!!!

  • too bad there's not a Underdogs of Nipomo video on here.

  • side to side with a tired smile cut into ur face u let me down for the second time strait

    awesome

  • bless your heart for quoting the lyrics..i had the cd but it was stolen along with many others that were windows to my soul....
