Low budgets were the reason that in the episodes when the crew had to go back in time, they always went back to the 60's. All the "sets" were already on the back lots! They did with what they had, which made it all that better!
This is one of the best episode, but I've always thought that it's so strange that Bones could escape from Spock's clench: Spock's power is often shown, and here, he looks like a baby!
UHHH, Here's a silly answer, 'cause it was made in the'60's? ('66 to '69). And they had a small budget. Less than 100k per episode. Try making a series, on that budget, today. =Stefan=
excellent episode! wish star trek wouldn't have ended in '69 where we could have seen more episodes like this one. Can't wait to get my season 1 copy of the remastered version
Haha, yes. Maybe it's not so much that he can't fight as that his pacifist healer instincts normally keep him in check, and he loses that check here with his sanity. De Kelley himself was in great physical shape--fought, swaggered and swashbuckled his way through a ton of westerns--so it's definitely no lack of strength on his end. Must have been fun for him to let loose a bit physically in this episode.

There must have been a freak-out rota on the starship Enterprise since one or other character seemed to have one every other week.

You picked a wonderful opening clip. Scared the crap out of me! He jumped outta nowhere...
Kind of like a screamer, only considerably more pleasant.

Fantastic show to be on such a limited budget. In my opinion, this is the best De Kelly episode in the whole series. Great acting! We miss you!

Why did they always go out of their way to go back to Earth in the 60's? I thought they had a large budget.
RedDaVincy 4 years ago
if they had a "large budget" then the rocks wouldn't say "made in china" in the side of them.

You could have just said, "No, my friend, they actually had a relatively small budget."
Sarcasm doesn't make you look very clever... at all.

For a guy that tends to get knocked out/down during a fight, he sure was holding his own during these.
