What he is trying to say is that the newer Canon lenses have no manual aperture control on the lens (only in camera), however you can purchase an older lens or a lens from another manufacture that has a manual aperture control ring on the lens itself.
I think it sucks that you're not supposed to be able to control the aperture yourself when filming with the T1i(500D). Does anyone know if the 7D, 5D or 1D Mark IV purposely allow manual aperture control on the video function?
@amediastintas either until the battery lasts or on how big is your memory card's storage and of course the resolution you're recording in. but, i don't know.
I just did a quick test stacking some ND filters and all it did was change the ISO or the shutter speed but kept whatever aperture I got from the meter before I even started stacking the filters. Need to try it out more. Could be good to alter the blur from the shutter speed as long as the f-stop is okay for the shot.
you can also set the iso by pointing the camera at a light for a lower iso or holding your hand in front of the cam and half-pressing the shutter release button or focus button. then hit the iso lock button on the top. first set iso lock to 30 min in the menu.
great work, man... i remember watching a video on v. laforet's blog about getting shallow DoF on the 5DII back when it didn't have manual exp controls, and he just stacked ND filters, but i totally forgot about aperture rings on old lenses...
Exuse me, i did not fully understand...
If i want to have a larger depth of field while shooting with the t1i do i have to purchase some other lenses?(I have the standard 18-55mm)
If it's like that could you tell me which lenses to purchase?
Thanks.
