  • Superb....One of my favourite pieces of music. This is a very fine version

  • Wonderful!!

  • pathetic!

  • Nice singing ...and they are NOT hard to look at !

  • Wonderful harmonising.

  • Pretty darn good!

  • Belle canto! <3

  • One of the best renditions after La Vita É Bella's Version

  • The voices are beautiful, but their image needs a lot of work!

  • :D I'm singing this with someone else in my opera recital

  • Most regrettably, it seems that physical appearance may overcome inner talents. Bad marketing has a lot to do with it. These young women have beautiful voices (or so seems in the recording. Could it be that they can't sing live? Don't think so...) bue the marketing manager only heeds to their loveliness. Poor way of selling good music and good voices.

  • disagree with the what i call rude comments, they are excellent singers, why harp on about the way they dress when they look glamorous.

not everyone is so narrow minded as some of you lot

  • @oddball2036 ... they are singers, who cares what they look like?

  • these girls are most likely a guilty pleasure to both the crowd who looks for hotness but ostenttatively shuns high art such as classical music and snobs who will not see a classical singer unless she is 250pounds and 50yrs old...how delicious...

  • porn barely legal "opera" babes

  • t was 1971 or 2 and my best friend Jonelle was a gifted mezzo soprano,(still is) in a music class at the University of New Orleans. She invited me to the class ChristImas party. 2 female students sang this umpromtu and acapella and I, who was all about Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Doors, etc. was enchanted. I have never forgotten it and never will. They sang it slowly and reverently and had no idea how it influenced me. Beautiful!

  • Awesome.

They have great voices and great appearance.

    Two thumbs up!

  • anjos lindos cheias de luz.Deus as abençoe sempre.obrigada por postarem esse tesouro.

  • Very good !!!!

  • Excellent.

  • PLEASE! All who treasure this most beautiful composition, tell us which rendition brings you to TEARS...that is the point...what good is technique if it only pleases the ear? Anytime I need to cry like a baby, I turn to loradachescu...show me more heart!

  • The video presentation does not go with the sentiment of the music.

  • I agree.

  • Thank You !!!!

  • Why spoil beautiful music and voices with a ridiculous 1960's soft porn vampire flick look? It's an insult to the music and to their ability as singers....

  • wow ... how interesting ... I like the beginning very much.

  • Noche magica, voces de ensueño...

  • This is set in Venice

    They are courtesans

    "Vapid dolls"

    works

    :-)

  • Very nice melody.

  • A most beutiful rendition...don't ruin it with vapid dolls

  • The women in the pictures above are the OperaBabes; in other words, they are the ones who sing. Both are classically trained (soprano and mezzosoprano).

  • Excellent. Congratulations for the video.

    Best Regards

    Nycolas C.

  • que j'aime que j'aime ... a ecouter encore et encore !!!!

  • Ufff.. me hace recordar mi niñez.. escuchaba mucho esta Barcarolla

  • grazie Salvatore.........

  • They are singing in the wrong key!!

  • God dammit! I Know! Somehow folks here keep disagreeing.

see mezzocristina's version which is correct. its not that this is soo bad, but its heresy compared to the latter:)

  • So beautiful & awesome =]]

  • very lovely and harmonius

  • me encanta.. no me canso de oir sus versiones de esta opera...

    la amo

    amo a offen

  • I think they have GREAT voices.

Anybody here that can sing better than they, let me know.

  • what wonderful song

  • They don't have great voices, but they have good voices and they are very good singers. There harmony is excellent.

  • they sound beautiful...and in this duet , simple is better and they aachieve it quite nicely.

  • the power is in the song - these babes are selling something else - sometimes this appeal is interesting - sometimes not - we should all thank jacques offenbach first for creating something so timeless like this...and not worry about opera babes or moms too much...

  • they are ok singers, not opera singers but ok singers..........

  • These gals are good, but the very name "opera babes" kind of cheapens them. It insinuates that their appeal is their physical appeal, rather than their voices. "Celtic Women" is not "celtic babes" and there's a difference. "Bond" is a string quartet selling themselves on their sex appeal.

I'm interested in the music. These arrangements are a little "poppy" but quite nice. Why not sell the virtue of the music instead of the beauty of the singers...? just my two cents.

  • They suck, no two ways around that you will never see them in an opera house -- NEVER. Real opera fans don't listen to this bullshit, so give me thumbs down or question why i actually listened to them but that doesn't change the fact that these girls would go nowhere if they looked like Monsarant Caballe, listen to her instead.

  • You may be right about the fact that they wouldn't go far without their looks and a studio to help them sound better. But don't call this bullshit, the opera industry is getting smaller and smaller and so are the contributions. What these girls are doing, and other artist like them, is bringing this kind of music closer to a younger audience and the industry needs that audience to survive. And if we have to go down to the level of selling the looks instead of the music alone... so be it

  • May not be bullshit but I think that using looks to bring a younger audience would only make opera as expendable to young people as Top 40. Unless you like the music for the music, you won't stay for the longterm. What young people need is to not worry so much about image (such "unpretentious" image, or thinking only thin people should sing!) + just explore, see what they like. I't's not the worst crime being associated with "old" taste, but sometimes that's what they seem to think.

  • And also... it's people like you, that call themselves "real opera fans" that make young people not want to listen to this kind of music. It makes them think that people who listen to opera are pretentious and up tight, and young people dont want to be associated with that. I know its sounds dum, but there are a lot of people out there who are stupid.

this doesnt apply to every young person out there, I know a lot of people out there can think for themselves, but there are still a lot who cant

  • i am 19 and i've been a proud big fan of classical music and a little opera since 15

  • I find it wonderful when young people appreciate this music genre.

I'm starting to sound like I'm really old!

I'm not much older than you, I'm 21 and I've always loved and appreciated all genres of music and I've been studying opera singing since I was 15

  • Hey Im 19 also, this song is great

  • @lostmind

    - everybody say 'hellow lostmind'

    -(choir) hello lostmind

:D btw whats to be proud of? i like strawberries more than olives. should i be proud?

  • yes.

  • I prefer Monserrat Caballé instead of Monsarant... I think Montserrat is a lot better, you Real Opera Fan. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • even if they are not so good...i prefer listening to them than listening to britney spears.. :P

  • I Agree with you on that ..

  • @PTCello but we are getting both, I like that they mix the beauty of the woman with the beauty of the music, you're getting twice the pleasure.

  • Comment removed

  • @bonanzagrade no youre fucked

  • I completely agree! :)

  • @PTCello Yes i agree with you ...they got the talent..but are not opera singers more like aria singers..

  • @PTCello I know, not only the name cheapens them, but it also takes away the seriousness of opera and it brings out the idea of that opera singers should be hot, and that is totally not the purposse of opera singers.

  • @PTCello HGWT5763. 01/09/04/2011 A.D. POINT WELL TAKEN,I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.

  • @PTCello I think you two cents is worth a few dollars, their voices are good enough to stand on their merits. Sad commentary on the society we live in

  • Strange, when I listen to music, my mind takes over.

I can see what takes over nightfighter for you.

Awful chicks hitching their wagon to the popularity of "pseudo" opera. They'll be pushing prams soon enough - go for it.

  • yes pushing prams to the bank ...

  • *yawns* check out Sutherland and Horne and then tell me about this light-weight toneless production.

  • You can honestly not pretend, that Sutherland and Horne were babes. They sang very well, but they were and are rather unattractive ... !

  • I dont care.. i dont need you to tell me what sounds nice and what dont ...i like their singing ,,,

  • Most beautiful music i've heard.

  • I've been looking for the song for a bit since I heard it in Life is Beautiful; I didn't know the name; only that it was from The Tales of Hoffman. I am just glad to have found it myself.

  • seriously. you want barcarolle done well, check version from mezzocristina. i just dont feel it here.

  • sorry dont agree with you i like opera babes best

  • some like chocolate some like apples.

  • lovely angelic voices.

  • bello e originale

  • 'opera babes'? ha. funny. but thats not sung correctly. try in some key.

  • Proof is in the pudding...if you dont like it dont listen to it ..I like the sound of Opera babes..but i dont like the way mezzochristina sings..sorry

  • Ideal pour avoir de beaux rêves.

  • QUE VOCES TAN HERMOSAS

  • I didn't like the way they sing Casta Diva, but this one is nice.

  • now thats harmony

  • Yes i agree the voices are a perfect match.. the music and voices sweet and soft to the ears

  • sublime!

  • aah, I love these voices....lovely match

  • z dedykacją dla wszystkich wtajemniczonych
