That West 57th theme really is a great composition by Edd Kalehoff one of his best, thoigh very 80s in style. It really takes me back... I remember I watched the program fairly regularly on Saturday nights if I was home, mostly I think during the time when Jane Wallace was on the show because I thought she was incredibly beautiful and sexy.
This whole clip is like Edd Kalehoff-fest...I think he had something to do with that lottery music (given it's similarity to the MGHS theme). The West 57th theme is sort of similar to the (Nickelodeon's) Double Dare theme too. (Interestingly EK did the theme to both unrelated versions of "Double Dare")
Wow, I have to say that Lottery Live clip totally brought back memories, and makes me feel young again. I had been wanting to see a Lottery Live drawing from prior to 1992 for AGES. I had always been curious about that outro, which was discontinued early in 1992. Also, it would appear that on this clip, the drawing was done right before the 8:00 show on CBS. When I watched from 1992-94, it was always done right after Jeopardy!
The "CBS Color" bumper seen here was originally shown before the start of virtually every CBS program in prime-time from 1966 through 1970 [Bob Hite, announcer]. Why it was shown before this 1989 edition of "WEST 57th", I don't know...I do know that was supposed to a "yuppie" version of "60 MINUTES" (it ended in '89); eventually, Steve Kroft and Meredith Viera did become reporters for the latter...
Dawn Hayes did plug West 57th as coming up next at 8pm, and show was in an 8pm slot around that time, so if the 1960s CBS bumper was part of the transmission, then it did air before '57th'. Also, Lottery Live aired twice, at 7:50 and 7:58, so the Megabucks drawing couldn't have been later in the evening.
Did you stick the bumper in for fun, by any chance? :)
..the lottery music sound remarkable like the theme used for the Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour (and later used as a car cue on The Price is Right).. probably produced by Score productions.
It *is* the same music used for the MG-HS Hour in 1983-84, but slightly remixed and repackaged with the title "Lottery". Both were composed by Edd Kalehoff.
BTW..VintageTelevision, if you come across WNEV's Lottery Live with short-lived host Andi Waugh (1987-88), that would be interesting to see. Apparently, she was let go due to an often nervous on-air presence; if she wasn't such a babe, it would have been cringeworthy to watch Andi on a regular basis.
The Megabucks drawing was pressed for time, as the machine started running right away, and since Dawn Hayes didn't do the usual ticket purchasing plug before calling the numbers ("you have until 7:55 next Tuesday night to pick up your $3 million Megabucks sweepstakes ticket", et al).
West 57th aired at 8pm on May 13th, but aired in a special 10pm slot the following week.
Love the bumper music on the "News7" preview.

Thanks for this.

The CBS Color animation seen in this composite did not air prior to "West 57th."

This is a sequence, a composite, of clips. They did not necessarily air back to back.

Thoughts:
1. I miss Dawn Hayes doing the lottery drawings.
2. "CBS presents the program in color." Nowadays, it would say something like "This program is presented in high definition."
3. Meredith Vieira went on to well-known shows like the View, the syndicated Millionaire, and The Today Show.
4. The 1988-89 "This is CBS" was the first one with animation, and would have a full musical backing by 1992.
5. Amalia Barreda is at 'CVB now, I'm not sure where Mark Wile went.

@mediadude08 Speaking of #2, let's not forget the "CBS StereoSound where available" in the '80s to early '90s.
