  • U ARE TOTALY IDIOT

  • im not hating but honestly im 14 and i can grab the rim and i could dunk if i could palm a basketball, and all i do is lift and do box jumps, well and i wear ankle weights

  • @jagrules96 Not to brag or anything, but I'm still a fetus inside my mom's belly and I can jump and do a 360 windmill, but before I dunk it, I can drink 3 slushies and watch Oprah Winfrey for a couple of hours.

  • keep it up man, your still in your 30's even if your close to 40 you have great ups.

  • your vertical looks around 20-25inches

  • @hardstylemaster321 id say 25-30

  • dude u can get up keep workin man!!!

  • how old r u a you look like your in your 30's

  • @K33nBarrie

    Close to 40 :)

  • 9'11?

The tallest man ever could just walk under it and slam it in

  • @twisterfield651 kenny george, he's 7'7 and can dunk without moving his feet

  • @twisterfield651 The "tallest man ever" was Robert Wadlow at 8'11" not 9'11".

  • @LGLG69

    Small typo.

  • im 5'7.5 nd can grab 10ft rim, nd jump 8 stairs but i want higher lol. i wana dunk not grab.any suggestions on help???

  • @NoQuittaGoGetta stretch your legs every day, flexibility is very important in increasing your vert. Also, idk why, it's kinda weird, but I personally jump higher off one foot, i really don't know why. but yeah. try jumping off your left foot instead of both. that might help.

  • hey everyone im only 12 and i can jump 23 inches is that anygood and how can i inprove???

  • you need to do squats plyos balancing core excercises deadlifts, and try jumping higher to gain vertical, b3fore i try to set a new vertical goal, "light as a feather"... im 38 inch running vertical after 1 year of training it off and on now im training it hard and ive gained 2 inches in 2 weeks now. make sure you rest for 2-3 days before training vert hard, because you dont want to not jump as high and feel you havnt accomplished anything, let your body heal b4 training again. gl with training

  • @dirkofyork hey wat plyo drills do u do ?

  • i do stair jumps and 1 legged stair jumps with weight, i like sprinting, sprints seem to help quite a bit. get to an average starcase, if you are 6 foot tall and you can do a standing jump to the 6th stair i gaurntee you can dunk a basketball.

  • @dirkofyork , i dont how old u are but i would suggest you do some wieght lifting . NOT LEG PRESS , im talking bout leg extensions and leg curls , for one month , then ! do some plyos again ;) btw thanx

  • yo ma man first of all u need to rest and take care of that need second watch the video called Vertical jumping form can increase your vertical 2 - 6 inches now. and see that your jumping the wrong way. so watch and start grabbing that sun of a rim ight

  • Good vertical, average is like 18 inches for average person and the average vertical leap for NCAA Division 1 Basketball player is 27 inches I think.

  • lmao dumbass trying to use this video as your defense......HAHAHA this vid shows how low you jump despite all of your squatting which is above parallel

  • Squats is greatest exercise i jumping high. Fuck plyo. He ones you he's not lean above 20% fat!! 45 pounds of dead fat!

  • did you stretch?

  • I stretch all the time

but I can't do any jumping right now due to a medial meniscus tear in my left knee :(

  • i never heard about meniscus tear???

im like an inch off from touching the rim so close!!!!

  • woooow ok , seriously these ppl are just trying to make u feel badd , when ever you start feelin better dawg just do leg extensions and leg curls , and dead lifts . after a month or so do plyos , you'll be jumping higher in no time

  • rim height changes all the time. its caused by the expansion and contraction of the metal stands. so the sun and season may affect it.

  • pause on :33

  • know what?,, thats also my problem,, i can jump my highest when no one's around bcoz i knew i can witness my prime alone and no one can seeit, but i n our school, or around many people standbying there??,,, it sucks,,,im even trying 2 touch 9"6 rim but almost there,, ohh men!!! my crush is just arwnd d corner, im just trying to impress her with my flying ability,, i just felt that thers many people and i begin 2 think that i cannot do it, it my legs feels not enough that high.

  • men, im almost of same height only having longer wingspan of 7"6,, by the way, u think u can get higher iff all pumped up? or dressed in jersey or light clotheswhatever???

  • yeah I get a little higher when I'm hyped, and infront of people, but not right now. Haven't jumped in ages - left knee injury

But when I come back I'm hoping to be well above the rim, since I'll be 30lbs of fat lighter, with a bigger/stronger lower body :)

  • it does/nt look like its almost 10 feet?? is that really regulation bro?

  • I measured it with a steel tape measure...

  • nice jumping, check my hops if you want

  • how tall are you and how much u weigh bro?

  • I thought the video had all the info at the start.... :)

    5'8.5" barefeet

188lbs in the video, but I'm around 205lbs right now

  • haha yeah i see that now ...im 5'10 190lbs and can touch the rim...u ever try doing block jumps? like volleyball?

  • not sure what you mean, but I guess some type of running, approach jump technique?

or a 2 handed standing jump?

  • yea 2 handed standing jumps on a wall for 1 minute intervals as fast as u can or longer depending on how good of shape u are in.....im sure youve prolly done something like that...thought id just mention it incase u havent...

  • hey im a 5"7 and 15

my vertical jump is about average

im a really good bball player but the only thing letting me down are my hops

i have started doing calf raises on the stairs

    i can do about 80

can u tell me any other exercises to make my vertical jump higher

    thanks in advance

  • just do anything to make your legs and hips stronger. Squat if you can. If not you do single leg pistol squats, single leg kneeling deadlifts etc

but sooner or later you will need to attack the weights if your after meaningful gains

  • thanks

and also do calf raises help?

  • yes, you need a baseline of foot and calf strength to transmit the forces from the hips and legs into the ground.

  • thanks

  • google plyometrics that increases ur vert the best it dosnt cause u to build muscle

  • i mean it dos build mucle but more solid just look at people who jump really high they dont really have huge legs they have really toned legs with allot of indents and shit

  • brilliant thanks very much :)

  • hi, im about 70kg about 6"2 and i can touch the rim with both hands (can nearly dunk :D) off a one leg jump. i cannot jump this high off two legs, how can i improve my 2 legged jump?

  • well practising it, and getting stronger.

1 leg jump relies more on reactivity and spring

2 leg jump needs more strength and explosiveness, so you need to be strong relative to your bodyweight

    start squatting :)

  • cool thanks man, i do squats occasionally but i dont think i do them right... i hold 2 7.5kg dumbells by my sides then do about 50 squats... should i be doing heavier weights and fewer reps?

  • yeap, you need to start using a barbell and squatting heavier. More weight, less reps, keep reps under 8 each set

you need to get up to squatting your bodywieght for 5 reps at least :)

  • Hey, my weight is about 80kg, I squat about 80kg for about 20reps, should I increase the weight of the squat and do less reps?

Also, is it better to jump off 2 feet or 1 foot?

    Thanks

  • yes, at 80+% of 1 rep max, about your 7 rep max, you recruit all your muscle fibers from the first rep onwards in a set. So you should be doing all your sets in the 5-7 rep range with your 8 rep max or higher weight, if your goal is to get stronger quicker

  • Squatting will improve your 2 leg jump much more than than 1 leg jump. It's much easier to increase the 2 leg jump.

Just improve relative strength and keep jumping and it will go up, but 1 leg jump is much harder to increase and you have to keep your bodyweight really light.

So it depends on how much highe ryour jump off 1 leg :)

  • Thanks mate =D

  • hey how did u get ur verit. cuzz im relli bad and im try lots of things im doing like 110 kgs on the leg press at the gym. and im dunk lots on like a 7ft ring oh and im 14 years old and im 5,6ft and weigh 65kg. any tips

  • deep full squats and jumping, that's all you need

when you can squat twice your bodyweight for 8 reps, and practise jumping regularly you will fly :)

  • thx ill try this monday.

  • so for jumping leg squat help?

  • yes...

  • hey man i got the same problem i could touch rim but whenever i do i kind of get nervous and slip or have a bad jump i know i could get higher

  • oh, lol. well you just look really skinny in your video, lmao. and thats good that you can jump higher. and good luck with dunking broo. (no sarcasm)

  • i dont seek praise from others you fag. i dont want nuthing from anybody. but i was just saying, calm down. and im shorter then this guy by half an inch, im 5 foot 8 exact. he just needs to work on his vertical a bit more.

  • ever consider you might have longer arms than me? And weigh less than me?

I have a 7'4" reach stretched up as hard as I can, and weigh 196lbs first thing in the morning. There are plenty of guys shorter that reach higher

And at close to 200lbs now, heavier than when this video was taken, it takes a lot more horsepower to get me up the air

I'm jumping a little higher now, even though I'm 12lbs heavier. Just getting started, eventually I'll be able to dunk it standing under the rim

  • bro, work on your vertical its not very good (no offence) but i could fully 2 handed grab a 10 foot rim when i was in grade eighht. and i was like 5'7.

  • good for you

    thank your parents

  • wow it just blows my mind when people like you insert totally unconstructive comments for the sole purpose of seeking praise from others. go get a fucking life you loser

  • on your running jumps it seems like you don't get the most of them. You have a little hop step which seems to slow you down making almost like just a standing jump. Check out my dunking video of how i finally got it. If you can learn to jump with two feet off of a run it will really help you. Have you tried jumping out of foam or sand or anything like that? that will definitely help.

  • oh i forgot to say...i am only like 5' 11 1/2" so i'm not a whole lot taller than you. You should be there already cause you are stronger than me on explosive lifts. I think with your vertical, you can dunk if you just practice your takeoff.

  • yeah I loose a lot of speed on the hop step - it's a bad habit. I'm trying to redo my running jump. Harder than you think though :(

Well your arms a whole lot longer than mine.

There is a guy in my gym who is 5'11" and he can touch the 8 feet ceiling, whereas I'm like 9 inches under :)

Even 5'6" - 5'7" guys at my gym have higher reaches than me, 2-3 inches!

Plus I pretty heavy, so I'm not really that strong relative to my bodyweight. I need to get a lot stronger, more horsepower needed!

  • yeah i didn't realize that. is your wingspan shorter than your height? oh well it will look a whole lot better when you can finally slam it cause it looks a lot better when a small guy dunks.

  • 70.5" wingspan. So 5'10.5" wingspan

  • Pretty short if you compare my stats to 2 guys in the 2004 NBA draft combine

    Me

    height 5' 8.5"

    wingspan 5' 10.5"

    standing reach in shoes 7'4"

    vertical jump 30.5"

    running jump 34.5"

  • Andre Barrett height 5' 8.75" weight 171lbs wingspan 6'1" reach 7'8" VJ 29.0" running 34.5" Nate Robinson height 5' 7.75" weight 181lbs wingspan 6' 1" reach 7'7.5" VJ 35.5" running 43.5"
  • there's no way Nate Robinson's running vert is only 43.5"

  • I took the numbers from the NBA draft combine, so it's legit

  • Yea I figured those were his workout numbers, but he's got to be jumping higher than that. here's my reasoning...

Nate's reach is 7'7.5" and his running vert is 43.5". That would make his highest touch, without the ball, around 135" or 11'5". That's 2 inches from the top of the square on the back board.

My highest touch is 137" or the top of square. WHY CAN'T I DO THE DUNKS HE DOES??? (sorry I needed to vent)

But do you see what I'm saying?

  • dunking is a skill - even I can't do the trick dunks he does on an 8 foot rim, even though I can get nose level with it :)

Have a look how high his head goes on his lob dunks, that will give you an idea how high he is getting. He is about 5'9" in shoes.

10 feet - 5'9" = 51 inches. His head is at least 8 inches away from the rim, when he jumped over Spud Webb to dunk it.

  • I guess I just have to accept the fact that I have no skill lol. Time to get to work eh

  • i know you're 5'8". but are you sure that rim is 9'10"? that one looks f*ckin high.

  • Yeah I measured it last week, so I'm pretty sure it's 9'10"

    Will double check though :)

  • I remeasured the rim today, and it's actually 9'11.75" instead of 9'10" like I had thought!

Not sure how I got 9'10" when I first measured it 2 weeks ago.....!

So I'm jumping a little better in the video than I thought :)

Vertical jump in video = 29.25 inches

    3 Step jump = 32.75 inches

    Running jump = 33.25 inches

A little better, but not as high as my best of the day. And I was jumping 0.5 inch higher off a run 2 weeks ago on the same rim for many jumps

  • i knew that something must be wrong with that rim ;). because i dunked on a lotta rims and i watched like a billion dunks in my life. so your formula works pretty good. now like you said you just have to loose some weight and get your squat up then you can make the rim lower with some power dunks ;). peace

  • 500lb full squat = 44 inch standing vertical jump for me, at my current bodyweight ;)

  • Keep working hard, you'll get there! try dunk with an alley-oop. I dunked for the first time on 10 ft two days ago. Check out my videos
