Mia St John is freakin overrated and lost (again) to Brooke last night. Only reason why St John is hyped is because she is attractive. She would get beaten down by any top female boxer and she has been exposed her last few fights.
Attractive female athletes tend to get a lot of hype. Look at Gina Corana. They think she's the best just because of her looks and the fact that she's undefeated when she hasn't even gone up against the top MMA fighters.

The expectation was the heavier Holm would stop Mia. It didn't happen, in fact Mia avoided much of Holm's punching (no power) and went home uninjured, unmarked, and richer.
If Holm had stopped Mia, the video would be available everywhere. But Holm was outclassed so the video was not released. There are snippettes on WBAN. Watch them and see how Mia made Holm look like a rookie.
thanks. we must be talking about a different fight, because mia herself stated that she was beaten by holm due to her speed. she was hosting a fight night when holly was fighting. they did show a clip of the fight and it looked like mia was taking a beating.
Holm won the fight. The clip was from Holm's promoter so of course it shows Holm's few shining moments. Watch the clips on WBAN and see Mia slip Holm's punches. Holm outweighed Mia by 10-15 lbs at fight time like she usually does. Don't take all of Mia's statements at face value. Many times there's a business motive behind her comments. Do you think FSN would have her commentate the Holm-Saccurato fight if she had made disparaging statements about Holm's weight, lack of power or promoter?
I'd love to see the video of the 2001 fight where Mia St. John gets destroyed and knocked out by Rolanda Andrews in the 2nd round. If anyone has it, please post. Thanks!
Mia's fight on 11/9/2001 was not Mia "gets destroyed and knocked out by Rolanda in the 2nd round."
Mia was knocked down, got up to her feet but the referee stopped the fight for a TKO. Mia protested the stoppage but the referee still stopped the bout. The fight video is available for purchase from several sources.
What kind of business are you in? I clicked your name and linked to some "unique" advertising.
The TKO with Rakoczy was a headbutt. The fight was broadcast on FSN. Even Rakoczy's website at the time acknowledged the headbutt but has been removed since.
Rakoczy has a history of headbutt stoppages against opponents.
Since the fight was in Rakoczy's hometown, it was ruled a TKO. Anywhere else, it was a no-contest or technical draw (by California rules).
Wrong! First, the fight was in California. That's ST. JOHN territory since Rakoczy makes her home in Nevada.
Second, the ring doctor did NOT advise the referee to stop the fight. He felt that the fight could continue. St. John HERSELF decided to quit fighting. That's called a KO. (Or "TKO" for people who don't really know what their talking about)
I stand corrected. The fight was in Lemoore,California. Its where Rakoczys promoter puts on events. Rakoczy fights only on her promoters cards, so Lemoores home turf, regardless where she lives. Home is where your promoter is.
Ringside physician looked at the cut and did not advise the referee to stop the fight. St. Johns corner people examined the injury and saw the cut was both in the skin and muscle so they stopped the fight. This injury has plagued St. John since.
Rakoczy has five fights decided by headbutts. Three were wins for Rakoczy. One was a no-contest because Rakoczy was cut. And the most recent was a technical draw.
If a fight is stopped on advice from the ring physician due to a headbutt, its a technical draw (California rules). Since the St. John match was on Rakoczys promotion, there is no surprise how it turned out.
It doesn't matter, bro. The ring doctor, not the fighter's corner or the fighter herself, is the only one who can decide to stop the fight. St. John was knocked out, plain and simple. The headbutt itself was purely accidental. You could see that. St. John was outclassed by Rakoczy the first time around and really didn't want very much more in the second go. You can't look at how apprehensive she is in that fight and tell me (with a straight face) that I'm wrong.
Accidental or intentional, a headbutt is a headbutt and is not a legal blow. The fight was stopped by Mias corner due to the headbutt.
Rakoczys 9/2/06 fight with Belinda Laracuente was stopped (No Contest) when Rakoczy was cut from an accidental headbutt. Mias fight was no different except the ringside physician was wrong. All ringside physicians need to be certified and independent.
Dont underestimate the pressure on officials when the promoters boxer is involved.
I didnt see it that way but the rounds were close I had Brook by 2 rounds. Mia was like the hometown fighter just like Marry was with Rita. Mia is with One in a Million Brook is with 8 Count. No one gave Brook a chance(other than us)at the press conf. A rematch would be good but I think Brook would want the fight to be in Cicero. Brook did all she could to show respect for Mia on the show tonight(Bolo Punch Boxing Hour) I think no one talking (at the media events) to Brook worked her up.
I don't think it was fake but I think that your not the only one that told her to show Mia respect. (and it sunk in) I still thnink Brook won all the round but 2&6 but I think all the rounds were close except 1&2. I like your view we need mor pepole like you on our Message Board.
Too bad FSN won't televise the Dierdorff/Villarreal fight. Dierdorff won't acknowledge the headbutt, ruled accidental, that rendered Villarreal defenseless. Headbutts with Mia and now Elizabeth. And both fighters injured in the same location.
The bout should have been stopped after the headbutt, an officials error. And Dierdorff needs to stop leading with her head.
Mia had the promoter behind her. The ref was behind Mia and One of the judges was way off. I wish you could see a full video of the fight. Mia was going to be the next fight for Marry McGee the real local fighter(Merrillville not Chicago)
I was there. The announcers had the fight even and one point different. Dierdorff is the local fighter, Mia's from Ca. The promoter had no effect on the scoring. The 59-55 scores for both fighers were "way off." Mia won by one point.
Go Brooke go.

Dierdorff cut Mia with headbutts. The referee didn't control the fight. The scores were only one round apart. Dierdorff cheated.
Mia is 2-1 in her last three fights.
