  • My gang of young malcontent misfits listened to this song over and over. It gives a feeling of pain, and constant anguish, that later songs couldn't replicate. It rocked hard, with the struggle of the working man. A true blue collar anthem.

  • OOaaauuu GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My grandfather worked on the railroad ....Died before I was born....working on the railroad. Here's to ya Grandpa!

  • an epic song from one of the greatest bands ever to play!!! LONG LIVE THE RAILROAD!!!!

  • SEXO , DROGA Y ROCKAND ROLL

  • YES!

  • Such a great album!

  • I was just thinking The Railroad in my head. I received the American Band album during Christmas 1974. Great song. Thanks for posting this!

  • Special credit to Craig Frost for his "mysterious" chords. Added a special touch to this song. PS one of my favorites.

  • @zzzzzzzz594 What are the "mysterious" chords? All I can figure out is Am. Cbm, C... Back and forth - over and over... I love this song don't get me wrong. I always felt the best songs were with a few chords and a great lead. Like Deep Purple! Lord half of their songs play one or two chords while the lead has at it!

  • Love it love it love it!

  • One of my favorites. I thought at the time of it's release it was a request from the band to their fans to keep supporting them as a band. ("Come on and ride the railroad, one more time")

They have been one of my most enjoyed bands for so many years, and they have spoken to me in so many ways.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • Homer Simpsons. "The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner. The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher. The competent drumwork of Don Brewer."

  • Listen to the power in his voice...This may just be the best Grand Funk song and for sure this is the best album!...PS...I still have this album and its been played a million times...lol

  • Thanx for posting, been looking for this song awhile!!

  • ALTAMENTE

LEMBRA -ME AS NOITES NA SERRA DAS MINAS.

  • this song is played in A minor, B minor, C major, B minor, open G, land on A minor again, listen to the chord sequence, love the sound effects of the spikes hitting the railroad and the locomotive leaving the station. im from 1982 so im not from the 70's generation but i appreciate this group and this music because its original and powerfull!!!!!!

  • Outstanding song one of my all time favorites of Grand Funk Railroad!!! Grand Funk always wrote some very heart felt songs....

  • Has anyone noticed how hard it is to google this song?

  • @dstroy ...yep I think it's really odd...cause this is absolutely a GFR gem!!!

  • @dstroy YES I HAVE

  • Only diff now to this great song is that the buzz is at home with some goood booze instead of smoke.

  • One of my favorite old funk tunes! :{D

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs written by Mark.

  • fuckin trippy! one the finest bands in history!

  • Most underrated song ever and I could not understand why. This one should rank among world's greatest ever rock hits.

Greetings from Bulgaria to all of you real fans!

  • I listened to this when the album came out, and now really appreciate how great this song really is.

  • i like this song very much. super mark farner

  • What an awesome F******song! Too bad this tune and Creepin' never got the airplay/recognition that the 2 lesser, although still good "catchy" tunes got, those 2 cuts being WAAB and WLAM. Thanx for at least putting this gr8 song up man, it really is a GEM! *smiles* Pax

  • An obscure favorite. I bought this album in about 1976 with one of those send in a penny and get 10 albums deals. Of course you had to buy many more full priced albums later and as an 8 year old I didn't have any money so it was butt chew time.

  • I like this song very much.

  • me too

  • how much i heaed.....

  • Great Tune, my brother works for the Railroad. Thanks for the memories.

  • Nice song, this band and Free are basic.
