My gang of young malcontent misfits listened to this song over and over. It gives a feeling of pain, and constant anguish, that later songs couldn't replicate. It rocked hard, with the struggle of the working man. A true blue collar anthem.
@zzzzzzzz594 What are the "mysterious" chords? All I can figure out is Am. Cbm, C... Back and forth - over and over... I love this song don't get me wrong. I always felt the best songs were with a few chords and a great lead. Like Deep Purple! Lord half of their songs play one or two chords while the lead has at it!
One of my favorites. I thought at the time of it's release it was a request from the band to their fans to keep supporting them as a band. ("Come on and ride the railroad, one more time")
They have been one of my most enjoyed bands for so many years, and they have spoken to me in so many ways.
Listen to the power in his voice...This may just be the best Grand Funk song and for sure this is the best album!...PS...I still have this album and its been played a million times...lol
this song is played in A minor, B minor, C major, B minor, open G, land on A minor again, listen to the chord sequence, love the sound effects of the spikes hitting the railroad and the locomotive leaving the station. im from 1982 so im not from the 70's generation but i appreciate this group and this music because its original and powerfull!!!!!!
Ahhh the memories that this tune holds... first time I did chemicals.... Many, many moon ago, when I was a much, much younger fella.(sigh). It was an awesome summer that year, those days are gone forever.
What an awesome F******song! Too bad this tune and Creepin' never got the airplay/recognition that the 2 lesser, although still good "catchy" tunes got, those 2 cuts being WAAB and WLAM. Thanx for at least putting this gr8 song up man, it really is a GEM! *smiles* Pax
An obscure favorite. I bought this album in about 1976 with one of those send in a penny and get 10 albums deals. Of course you had to buy many more full priced albums later and as an 8 year old I didn't have any money so it was butt chew time.
