later when I again try to login it is remembering login credentials and showing Authorize App , No Thanks buttons..when I click Authorize App everything fine...if I click on No Thanks it is not redirecting to android native app previous activity..

  • @ramisettysri Looks like you found a bug in trying to get learning code to work in a production environment. Good luck and I hope you figure it out.

  • hai...sorry for the delay it is working fine, but I got one problem in this code...when I selected..the check for login..it is redirecting to twitter page...there it is asking me authorize or No thanks..when I click on Authorize button everything fine..But..when I click on No Thanks button it is not redirecting application....and the app getting crash...can u help me out from this problem...

  • @ramisettysri No, sorry. That's beyond the scope of the teaching example. Good luck with your problem.

  • hi i am not getting twitter login page. Pease help .

  • @Doularam1978 Did you ever get it to work?

  • I tried to make it work but it force close everytime i open it ( yes i added both of my tokens from twitter) I will be glad if you could help me since this is for educational purposes only

  • @adolfoperezacosta Did you read the other comments? Did you try those things, especially the part that says that this code will build and work, as-is, with only the addition of the tokens from Twitter? Have you modfified the code other than putting in your personal Twitter tokens?

  • @brione2001 i haven't modified your code other than just adding my tokens from Twitter... code has no errors otherwise it wouldn't compile... it just force close while trying to open it in the virtual device

  • @adolfoperezacosta Sorry, I don't know what your problem is. If I pull this code and build it, it will work. It has not been changed in over a year.

  • Thanks for the code. I need to have the twitter profile picture in my app. Having the screen name could help me in getting the picture. I'm trying to figure out from the code to get the screen name. If any one already has the solution. It would be great if you can share it with me. Thanks

  • @hijayanthk I'm pretty sure that you have to use the Twitter REST API to get the profile picture. All you should need is your auth token and to make the right call to Twitter.

  • hi,when I check he check box, it is not redirection to twitter.not working properly, can guide me how to make it work.

  • Thanks a lot for your answer, but now it works for me, I downloaded the last SDK version and it works.

It's great, Do you have the same for facebook?

  • @Minea629 No, sorry.

  • Thanks but it doesn't work for me, I'm getting the following error:

"Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1"

And I don't know how to solve it.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • @Minea629 Sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. Did you clone the git repository, get a Twitter App ID and build the program? I would guess that you did not. The code that is in the git repository needs only a few changes to get it working for you. I could pull and build it right now and it would work for me. So what are you saying? Thanks for your comment.

  • Thanks a lot i will take a look at it now and get back to u if i have any question. Thanks

  • hi brione , i am a student in university of Hertfordshire, i was given a course work on building a twitter application for android enabled mobile phones, please do u av an video or any material that i can follow that will help me to carry out this task. thanks and to add to ths we are meant to use oauth which i think it's the only authentication allowed by twitter.

  • @seyiari @seyiari did you see the link for the source code? it turns out that there is some reason that it doesn't work in v3.0 of Android and eventually I'll take a look at it. Try looking at the video from Google IO 2010 called "Developing Android REST Client Applications", where the developer of the Android Twitter app give a great talk. You should be able to find it via Google.

  • Hello,

Thanks for sharing this trick. I tried with the emulator under honeycomb, and the problem is that the browser do not close. I'm correctly redirected to the application, but when I call finish() in my Activity, instead of seeing the previous activity the browser pop-ups. Also, I have the impression that when onResume() is called, a new Activity was created (ie. the activity that starts the browser is not reused!). Thus, I have to instance on my Activity... Any ideas?

  • Thanks for posting this oauth/android info and your sample app at github, it is soooooooooooooo helpful, really.

  • Code in not working. I have a problem. How to redirect browser to my application after authentication?

I put in callback = "Tweet://Tweet" and manifest to.

  • @youshanitube I think you need to check your application page on Twitter. You need to make sure that you check the radio button for Browser Validation, and not Client Validation. Browser does a callback to your phone's browser, while Client does the PIN thing.

  • Thank for sharing, but I have a problem. I can't tweet, it show me "There was some kind of problem". What should I do ?

    Thank you

  • @poweronohm i have the same here :( did you fix it?

  • @doonot ok i have fixed it. dumb error :) you need to have Read & Write selected in your twitter app!!!! cheers

  • Excellent! Congratulations!

  • lovely example brione! thanks!

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your sharing.

    Does this example still work?

I download your source code and try.

I have some problem when I click the checkbox

I can't redirect to login page.

If you still success, maybe my oauth key have some problem I will try :)

  • @Geniusking You do not give enough information to fix your problem here. Look at the latest code for Oauth.java. I added a comment to what I think is your problem.

  • @brione2001 Hello, thanks for your useful information.

I think the problem is CALLBACK_URI.

when I set CALLBACK_URI =Uri.parse(""); it can direct to twitter login page.

but when I login, it just give me a PIN code, no redirect to the app

how can I set the callback_uri let it redirect to the app. thank you.

  • @Geniusking Yes, I believe you are correct. Instead of parsing an empty Uri, set the callback Uri to null in the retrieveRequestToken function. That is what I wrote in the comment also.

  • @brione2001 I have same problem. I pass null in retrieveRequestToken but I get page with pin number and no redirection.

  • @alexandrefett I think you need to check your application page on Twitter. You need to make sure that you check the radio button for Browser Validation, and not Client Validation. Browser does a callback to your phone's browser, while Client does the PIN thing.

  • Great screencast, thanks for the source!

  • Thank you very much

  • hello, I can't find the source..

  • @Geniusking I'm sorry. I'll fix the link.
