  • Birmingham, England, U.K has more canals then Venice, Italy does

  • That is what this guy does best? Ouch.

But hey, the intention counts. I guess.

  • My mother lives in Cortina D'Ampezzo.Everywhere in the Veneto region is about corruption and taxes after taxes. The people from Cortina voted in 2007 to secede from Veneto because of the taxes.I live 8 months a year i Venezia and i'll give my blood for the city and i'll never leave it.I've invested almost everything there, the restoration and maintenance are very hard to keep and very expensive.Maybe someday you'll call me venetian cause it flows through my veins this city!I hate Berlusconi too..

  • hahaa

    amazing!

    bellissimo.

  • Ohh I think that song is cute. I LOVE how they are singing it to the tune of Volare. I'm trying to find a version of Volare with a tune like this.. almost every version on youtube is really jazzy.

  • you must be a very good singer to judge him like this...or just american... loool

  • OH THAT IS SO FUNNY!!!The Italians will make him feel so at home. I love going to Italy on holiday as it is so laidback there- and the lifestyle is beautiful for holidays whenever I need to get away. I want to go to Venice on a romantic break but with my sweetie - and he can sing to me in a Gondoler while I write poetry.

  • We wish you luck with your Prime Minister. His racist comments were pitiful and heard around the world. Italy is in our prayers. It's clear your politicians run Italy as though it were a third world country. Perhaps you too can change your government. Well ok, it may seem impossible but democracy starts from the grassroots up. You can do it!

  • lol that was great.

  • Viva Italia, Viva Obama!

  • What a beautiful tribute from our Italian Gondolier friends. Forze Italia!

  • The music VOLARE of famous Domenico Modugno is a classic. That much I love it.

  • This is so cool. It is great to know that the world wants positive INTELLIGENT change in the United States government us much as "we the people..." Vote OBAMA in '08

  • Italians know more about politics than many Americans. Italians were supportive of the American community I lived in, especially after 9/11. Bush changed things, Italians were dragged into the Iraq war because of Berlusconi's politics. Our politics affect the people in the world. They have every right to voice their support for Obama because they know he will put intelligence back in the world and it will make a difference also in their lives (which are pretty wonderful by the way).

  • Berlusconi was replaced by a socialist. Then for some odd reason the Italians wanted him back. I wonder why?

  • Thank you for the nice comment on my music video 'change'! Let's get Obama in the White House!!!

  • Molte grazie tutti! Bellissimo :-) Te amo Italia!

  • To OneLove1993,

Are you nuts! Do you get it? Like every losing repiglican you just have to turn every positive effort into something nasty....it may be the best thing you can do....or the worst for the world....all the world recognizes the Obama potential...listen and look...you're on the losing team...yet again!

  • If you haven't noticed, we're already failing. Have you watched anything besides Fox News in the past 7 years?

  • Grazie, caro amici!

You have warmed our American hearts!

  • this was awesome! go gondoliers!

  • Gondolieros RULE! Thanks for the beautiful song and the gorgeous view.

  • Perhaps one day you will realize that what happens in one country, especially one so vast and powerful as the United States, affects other countries as well. Because you do realize there are other countries, yes?

  • That was great ... thanks!!!

    VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

  • THANK YOU! I never put an American Flag by my home as many Americans do here in the U.S.A But I will be the biggest I can find when OBAMA becomes our President! Finally, finally hope will be reality!OBAMA/BIDEN 0'8 !

  • Proudly brought to you by people who think that foreigners should have a say in our domestic elections.

  • Nice Video!

I did one too about this whole debacle. I will send it to you. Tell me what you think.

    -TonyaTko

  • Thanks for your support guys!! We are gonna vote for you!! Peace and love

  • to patriotUSA2007. Luckily at the LHC scientist are doing experiments on the infinitelly small .. may be they will also discover your head behind some Higgs boson. To make thing easier (you do need it!!) This was a joke. ffuunnyy ssttaaff .. Only subnormals can't understand this. I would post this also if you were Italian of course since dick heads are dick heads wherever they comes from... exactly like you.

  • To patriotUSA2007:

unfortunately mafia is not only a filthy italian affair, if you were a bit more informed you'd know it too...

No one is telling you what to do, but be careful: anything happens to USA influnces directly or indirectly economy of other countries, so it's natural that we are strongly interested to who you are going to vote in a month! McCain and Palin could be an incredible TRAGEDY.

  • sense of humor failure??

  • oh, no!! people from all over the world actually LIKE an American presidential nominee!!

this could only be a TERRIBLE thing, because after all, USA is #1 and we are at WAR with the entire world.

  • I'm italian. And I can say that for sure: more than 3/4 of italian people are admittedly supporting Barack Obama.

Thanks to Obama and his political program, we can actually see the real difference between Dems & Reps.

The victory of Obama could be the greatest change ever happened for the USA.

I only hope that one day italians will learn to do the same good choice with regard to italian elections.

  • Brilliant! As a patriotic citizen of the country that's been showing it's middle finger to the rest of the world for the past eight years, I'd like to thank you for your patience and ask that you give us a few weeks more and we'll provide you a big apology.

  • No apology needed, just a win for Obama!!!!!

  • To videopm8: comparing FI to the GOP is just plain wrong. The whole axis of politics in the US is tilted way right than anywhere in Europe, including Italy.

The 'destra' in Italy can't even think of getting rid of welfare or running elections on religious beliefs, like Reps have done and keep doing in the States.

By the way, 'in March' and not 'on March'; and 'come in Italy' means something that my guess is you didn't mean.....

  • To ritzieri:

i know i know, to associate foreign parties to italian right or left is definetely wrong, i simply said that republicans sit on the right part of the emicycle ;D

And about about religious beliefs... i couldn't read wholly the discourse of the candidates, but here in italy that is also meaningfully present in electoral campaigns as vatican is strongly influent on catholic electors.

    I DO HOPE Obama wins!

  • ELECT OBAMA YOUR NEXT PRESIDENT!

  • After the financial disasters the GOP did during these years, I really cannot understand how they could imagine to have some credibility ...

really Incredible! They are really impudents..

  • Can someone tell me exactly, what positions of Obama are "socialist"? In the real sense of the word, not the ignorant redneck one, please.

  • When you say 'socialist', do you mean something like using billions of dollars of public funds to bail out banks and finance companies that made bad loans? And, when you say liar, do you mean like saying that Iraq was an imminent threat to our country, that Iraq had weapons of mass desctruction, and that Saddam had anything to do with 9-11? You republicans really have lost all credibility.

  • You're a complete fool....

  • Hahahahahaha! this video is too funny! The gondoliers love Amercians because Venice you see, ONCE, was full of Americans...while now, they are an extinct species! The gondoliers know what it was like to have romantic, generous americans in Venice and not like it is now, where you only have the russians and chinese left. America is a mess, Venice in hight tide is nothing in comparison. Go Obama.

  • yes!!! venice well done.you care for all the world situation not only italy.

    obama for president.

  • LOVE IT!!

My family will want to move to Italy to be with relatives there if a Republican is elected again. We can't afford even one more year of their favoring the rich. It will be full circle since my grandfather moved to the US to secure employment after the war.

  • unfortunately on april '08 more than 60% italians voted berlusconi, that belongs to the right side of the parliament, just like american republicans. so if you came in italy you'd have very few chances to see something similar to a real democracy. one of his allied parties is clearly racist (i.e. it offered pig dishes to muslim immigrants...)

  • westsiderny, why are you so hostile. Its your choice to support the Republicans, but why not make an intelligent argument, and not an attack, or is that all that the Republicans have left?

  • I guess you need to watch the video a little closer, try and read the tshirt they hold up, its from Americans in Italy for Obama,a grassroots organization. One of the gondoliers is married to an American woman, and has 2 children both with American citizenship. This is a message from the hearts and minds of people who care about what happens in the world. They were not paid for their efforts. I guess that's difficult for some people to understand. But very simple for those working to elect Obama!

  • Wow westsider you sure are angry and more than a little bit misinformed. Why does this bother you so much? Isn't pluralism in the core principles of the U.S. Constitution? Free speech? A little fact checking wouldn't hurt-- according to The Washington Post, Obama was born in Hawaii a non-contiguous state but still a part of the Union. I don't like McCain for president, don't think Palin is capable but I don't hate. Eating enough fiber? Need a hug?

  • westsiderny: Your name is obviously a LIE. No self-respecting Westsider would consider voting for the insane old man and his religious EXTREMIST running dog... OR... perhaps you are an imbecile? or flat-out RACIST?

  • Don't waste your energy on this one. I entered into a useless exchange with westsider yesterday--there's no getting through muddy brains that dense. Actually wrote "a black friend told me and she konws..." what a buffoon!

  • Go to VoteMyHope[dot]com to voice your opinion in this year's presidential election from abroad.

  • I wouldn't go that far!

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!!! amazing, really, we need support for obama from other countries... we dont want another 4 years of bush!!

  • grandissimi! ottima idea! In gamba!

  • OOOOObamaaaaa Go ohhh

  • ah ah...geniali...anche se un po' buffi, tutto sommato =)

anche io voglio poter votare Obama!!!

  • Turns out that John McCain is right--just ask Senator Obama. LOL.

  • Bravo to the Italian Gondoliers! We are in California, and like you are hoping Obama is elected our next President.

  • How wonderful, love it!!!

    Great job.

  • haha this is awesome ! & im part italian :D ! GO OBAMA ! and italians ;] <3 .

  • what the hell do you care who Americans vote for or not. Mind your own business. Americans arent worried about Italian politics, why do you care what Americans do or dont do? Momma mia, fati gozzi vostra

  • Do you read the newspaper? The Asian & European economies are in a tailspin due to the crash of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, & now WaMu. What happens in America affects the world. btw, China holds a significant portion of our debt. you can bet they are watching to make sure that we don't drag them down with us. you'd have to be a stunad not to pay attention, regardless of where you live. IMO when someone pisses in their oatmeal & it leaks into yours, you have the right to comment.

  • I understand your point of view and your point is a valid one. However, I just think that Europeans sweat what Americans do too much. they have no rights here, no vote, no voice. So whats the use of sweating what we do?

  • thats so ignorant. we all live in the same world and have to deal with the same global issues. its self centered people who care only about their nations gain (putin, hitler etc) who's politics turn into global disasters. have you even considered what bush has done to wortld peace and economy.

please try to think about other people, not just other american cause if this country goes to shit we are gonig to have to rely on them for everything.

  • Ciao Vito,

I just checked out your Youtube page, good thing you're Italian/American. I imagine you didn't know that there are approx. 150,000 Americans citizens living in Italy, not counting the military. So yes, the world is very inter connected, and its important to care about what our "neighbors" have to say. Especially when its said in such a positive way. "we love you America" How can that make anyone angry??

  • What makes Americans angry is that Europeans think they have somthing to say about what we do. I had one gentleman from Germany complaining that Americans can buy guns. What the heck does he care if Americans can buy guns or not? He's in Germnay we are in America it's none of his business. Check my video on "God guns and Guts." you will see what I mean. Thank you for your response.

  • Please consider that Americans think they have something to say about what people in other countries do- and they call it "regime change". Plus, there are American bases in Germany, Italy etc. How would YOU like German soldiers on American soil? Be alarmed if no one cares what Americans do- it means we Americans no longer count. Tolerance is a two way street. And we NEED tolerance.

  • all things considered you should be worried what Italians vote, what Spaniards vote and so on..but we, in Europe, are concerned with what Americans vote almost as much as you in the U.S. are...didn't you notice? you're the last superpower in the world since 1991..

  • You make the same argument that my son makes, and I understand the concern Europe has. However it seems that Europeans think they have somthing to say about what Americans do. This annoys many Americans, for in truth Americans dont even think about Europe, unless they want to go on vacation.

  • well, I've never heard (between my friends or online) about Europeans that wants to have a say in America's decisions, so I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose it can happen. I can imagine only too well how maddening it would be if a foreign country wanted to influence decisions in mine, since it happened to Italy a lot during last century,

but anyway,I only wanted to say that it's natural, I would say 'sane',4 Europeans to be interested in U.S. politics (&viceversa), not to 'meddle' in it :)

  • PensaloBien -- I want to thank you for your precise and intelligent response and explanations to my comments. It is annoying when I get an e-mail from a European saying that Americans should't have guns or somthing like that. It seems everyone is focused on us.

  • Yes, everyone is focused on the US. When a person, or a country is a leader they will be praised, and if need be, at times doubted and criticized. They will be looked to as an example, and if they seem to fall short, the observers may be disappointed. This should be seen as a plus, not as taking away, or intervening. You need to be proud that so many people are interested in what happens in the US. I would be more concerned if nobody was paying attention.

  • does the word "coup" mean anything? we have "meddled" in elections all over the world: Iran, Pakistan,Chile, Nicaragua, Vietnam. I for one, as an American, welcome the idea of not being hated around the world and having a President who is respected.

  • Well Vito, I think the argument is that Europeans or other Non-Americans don't want to intrude or make a decision on American Politics or Policy. Maybe the real "dilema" is that the majority of Americans don't consider anything that happens outside the US bounderies, if it doesn't "directly" effect them, it doesn't matter. That in Italian is menefregismo or I could care less. Maybe many Europeans realize that we are all directly or indirectly dependant on one another, and therefore the interest.

  • Speak for yourself scrambiano. Who we have for President DOES affect those in other countries ... and what happens there DOES affect us ... so I agree with PensaloBien ...

    Goooo Obama!!!!

  • STUPENDO! Avete dimostrato ancora un'altra volta perché Venezia è la città del mio cuore, 'my true-love city'.

Siete bravissimi. I have shared this with my U.S. students.

  • sometime I can be proud of my hometown :-)

  • Luke you have soooo many reasons to be proud of your hometown, but thank you!!!

  • Sinking...like New Orleans?

    Pull your head out.

  • ADORABLE!!! I admire their level of interest.

  • I will pass this along to help you help us!

    Grazie!

  • Even the Italians have it correct! Yes, not only does the US need Barack Obama and Joe Biden to right the ship, but the world needs them as well. VOTE INTELLIGENTLY - Vote for Obama/Biden!

  • I love this!!! <3 <3 <3

Grazie!

  • I think every other European country feels the same, Obama for President. This appeals to the Italian in me and the practical pragmatist.

  • Grazie, Bello!!

  • kidding? No. Or at least i certainly hope not. I am an American very much in love with Italy, and for EXACTLY these kinds of sweet gestures. I treasure my memories of my visits to Italy because all the history and beauty of this magical country is accompanied by both the passion and utter sweetness of its culture. If we can't take in this gesture (a very appropriate gift, btw, coming from this ancient and powerful culture)..the offering of a sweet song to say "we're with you," it's our sad loss.

  • Obama supporter here. Love the video and support, but question for europeans at large. Instead of telling Americans how to vote, why dont you remove your own right wing nutjobs proto-dictators like Burlesconi and the like. Europeans love Obama, but only as an idea of what America can reprsent. Obama would NEVER be elected Prime Minister of any European nation. Why dont you guys look in the mirror instead of criticizing America for all of its faults

  • Our message is that If Americans are able to make a real change, than the possibility is even greater for change around the globe. Europe watches closely what happens in the US, and if you remember the crowds in Berlin, well, I think a candidate like Obama would win.

  • I do have a friend in Italy who tried very hard to get rid of that facist idiot. Please don't criticize Europeans at large for their nutjobs. Look at the nutjob we've had for the past 8 years; even worse, look at the 2 airheads that millions will still vote for in 39 days!!

  • Bravo.....bennissimo !!

    There is hope !!

    Grazie

  • Keep your spirits high, and keep working to get Obama/Biden elected.

  • As an American for Obama living in North Carolina I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have cousins in Torino. My sister recently visited Torino and Venice so I sent her the video. The world is truly a Global Village. Your video helps to keep our spirits up. The opposition is getting nasty.

  • Grazie, grazie, this is hilarious and touching at the same time. After 8 years of Bush, Abu Ghraib, the suspension of habeas corpus, military tribunals, bullying unilateralism, paranoia and religious fanaticism I have come to assume that the world hates us, so it's nice to hear that you are still hoping to get back the real America.

My grandparents were born in Italy, and I hope to visit you guys one day.

  • molto bene

  • You guys are fabulous!! I hope we can find you next time we're in Venice, and we'll be able to sing "Obama is president"!

  • You are darlings!! I'm in Paris and when I come to Venice next, I want to sing with you. OBAMA . . .C'est bon!!

  • ZOMG hiz middel name is HUSSEIN?!?!? He MUST be a muslin!!!1111!!

  • a rose by any other name would smell so sweet.....Shakespeare

  • Open a book, dude. Muslin is a type of fabric.

  • (re. recordingautist's comment, below). One day I will learn to operate the reply button. Nice vid :)

  • muslin is a type of fabric? next thing, you'll be insisting that irony has nothing to do with iron.

  • It doesn't. And I just thought you should know that your ignorant remarks were even more ignorant than you probably realize: You really have been referring to people as pieces of fabric, OK?

  • wait.... wuuuuuuuuuuuut?

so what does irony have to do with then? I always thought it meant "iron-like".

  • you are joking, aren't you? please tell me you are joking.

  • my original post was in response to someone who was complaining about obama and using SCARE CAPITALS for his middle name. I'll let you figure it out.

  • What in the world do Italians have to do with Al Quaida??

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

    from New York City!!!

  • Unfortunately some parts of Venice can be expensive, I'm just sorry you missed the beach, Its on Lido island. Maybe next time!

  • It's moments like this that make me proud to be of Italian decent! Bravo... love the song, love your voice - YOU TOTALLY ROCK! From Boston, Massachusetts

  • bravo italia e venezia! sono fiera di essere italiana (ho doppio cittadinanza ma sono nata e cresciuta in america) si`, si puo`!

grazie!! forza obama! and if we don't win - i'm coming home italia!

  • this is awesome!!!

  • Absolutely delightful. THANK YOU ITALY (VENICE) for your support...we need EVERY voice we can get!

    from Santa Fe, NM USA

  • Here are the lyrics: I guess that this chance that you have, It'll never come back After 8 years in the dark With George W. Bush People are hurting And the world is falling apart Now there's Obama to bring back the American dream(s) Obama go vote Joe Biden, Vice President Oh yes, this time, yes you can Elect Obama your next President (repeat chorus) We love you, go vote Obama!
  • They are singing "Oh-Oh" because the original song is "Volare" and has the lyric Oh-Oh in it. Here's the original chorus: Volare oh oh

    Cantare oh oh oh oh

    Nel blu dipinto di blu

    felice di stare lassu

  • Did they say, "Obama, go home...?"

  • No, they're singing: "Obama, go vote"

  • They are singing Oh-Oh because the original song is "Volare" and has the lyric Oh-Oh in it.

  • so cute! graci italia!!!

  • Graci! If Americans don't elect Obama/Biden, I'll be moving to Venice. You may have to share your gondola.

  • I'm touched by the reservoir of goodwill that still exists for the ideal of an America, and agree with their sentiments entirely!

    gigibridge

  • Awesome!! Obama/Biden 08'

  • Graci! Magnificent!

  • Excellent!!! :-D
