Without being saved, they are under the headship (or household) of Adam. This means that all children are born disobedient, sinful and incurring wrath. They need a new Head in order to receive the new reward instead of Adam's. That Head of course is Jesus, and this is why we need salvation.

I think your making a giant strawman here, Atheist of course do believe in any god but when they debate with thiest they will usually grant the claim that YHWH or Allah... is god in order to expose the flaws in line of reasoning , Its part of the socratic method I believe.
