Shiver's one of the few books I've read, that doesn't take seventeen chapters and four deaths to make a chapter/scene memorable. It may not have been long, but it was a turning point for Sam.
Again, to sort of support your case, it's a great escape from all the love triagles, rectangles, one creature against another, impending doom, hero/heroine with one character flaw that is solved by the end of the series, unrealistic abilities, only one climax, and/or vampires that inhabit most YA novels.
I honestly don't like this book so much. The story line could have been so much better if it wasn't for the fact that there's just that redundant life pattern-school, sam, pety problem, complaint of parents, grace back to start. Its just the same thing for a while and it got so boring. Plus i didn't really feel any connection with the characters. So whatever romance they have, which gets off i think too fast, just seems as if no big deal and considering it IS a romance book; its dissapointing.
@anime0pop I thought the trilogy was actually pretty good. There wasn't the constant 'impending doom' that takes place in most fantasy/romance novels, which can sometimes get tiring to me. And, peoples lives aren't always one big adventure after another after another. Routine happens.
@POPclogger216 But for a book to be only routine, doesn't that give a weak or lack of a plot? I just feel that too much routine doesn't give any urgency to read on which is what books need to have to be a major success.
@anime0pop Shiver's not all routine. *SPOILER* Not everyday does Sam freak out because of a bathtub. Nor a car crash, which causes soemone to turn into a wolf, leaving the other to wonder if they will ever see the wolf again.
To sort of support your opinion, to me, Shiver's a book that you have to want to read before actually starting, to get the book. It may not capture a skeptic within its first pages, but it's a bestseller to those who will give it a chance all the way to the end.
@POPclogger216 but that freak out in the bathtub was resolved how fast? Within 2 pages, i completley forgot about a car crash too. These are just small bumps that resolve themselves pretty fast thats why this book for me seemed to have no urgency or to even take a conflict seriously because i knew within the next 3 pages the story would resume to being as it was 4 pages ago.
OMG The perfect song for this book. Werewolves: Short Stack. The chorus is "We're going to hell just because we're werewolves" I thought of shiver when i heard it
saying the book is amazing gives this book no justice. there is nothing in the English vocabulary to describe how AMAZING this book actually is. and saying its great is a understatement.
gosh I just randomly found this trailer and I pressured myself to buy this book and it is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I love Love LOVE it! Also I cried my head off for linger and i am waiting like crazy for forever
I CRIED WHEN I READ LINGER BUT IM SO HAPPY BOUT THE NEW BOOK MY FAV QUOTE IS I WILL FIND A CURE THEN I WILL FIND GRACE I CRIED LIKE A BABY!!! XXXXXXXXXX LAST BOOK COMING SUMMER 2011. XOXOXOXOX
